Listen to this chapter:

"Why don't I move closer so you can aim easier?" Jared inched closer to Xavier, nearer to the gun. Xavier flushed with fury. "Jared, I will shoot. Leave Horington now, and I might spare your life. Otherwise, I'll kill you." His face was crimson. He'd never killed anyone, let alone fired a gun. He'd assembled this one himself, having purchased the parts individually. His fascination with guns, developed overseas, continued after his return to his home country, where they were strictly regulated, leading him to secretly assemble one. Despite his fondness for firearms, he'd never actually shot or killed anyone. Xavier struggled to control his trembling hands.

Jared sneered. "Someone like you wouldn't dare kill a chicken, let alone a human."

"Don't force me! I'll shoot!" Sweat beaded on Xavier's forehead. Despite his resolve, anxiety overwhelmed him. "Put down the gun, and I might spare you. Shoot, and you'll die," Jared said coldly.

"What nonsense? I can shoot you now, flee overseas, and no one can stop me!" Xavier didn't believe him. Holding the gun, he felt in control.

"If you don't believe me, shoot!" Jared's sudden shout startled Xavier. In his surprise, the trigger was pulled. Bang! A gunshot echoed, sparks flying from the muzzle. Xavier was stunned; he'd panicked and fired before he could react.

Jared caught the bullet in midair, clenching his fist. The spiritual energy surrounding his hand rendered the bullet harmless. He slowly opened his fingers, revealing the golden projectile.

Xavier was dumbfounded. The gun slipped from his grasp. "I said if you shoot, you die," Jared said, his murderous aura making Xavier tremble. A chilling dread, like plunging into hell, washed over him.

"Noโ€ฆ noโ€ฆ This is impossible! How could you catch the bullet?" Fear etched Xavier's face. He shook his head, unable to comprehend what he'd witnessed. It defied his understanding of reality.

Xavier, an ordinary man, no martial artist, knew nothing of martial arts. Jared narrowed his eyes. "Nothing's impossible. Shoot me again if you don't believe me." Xavier, under Jared's murderous gaze, collapsed from his chair. He couldn't even touch the gun, let alone fire it. Catching a bullet? Unbelievable, yet true. He finally understood how an ordinary ex-convict like Jared could win Josephine's heart.
