Chapter 175: Eternally Grateful
Jared waved his hand, gathering the silver needles and returning them to their cloth pouch. "All is well," he told Kieran. "She'll be fine after a few days' rest."
"Darling! Darling!" Kieran called to his wife.
The elderly woman slowly opened her eyes. Seeing the crowd, she murmured in bewilderment, "Why are so many people here, Kieran?"
"Don't worry! They were here to treat you. You're fine now, just rest!" Kieran urged, overjoyed at his wife's recovery.
Jared and the others quietly left the room and went to the courtyard. Kieran followed, immediately dropping to his knees before Jared.
Jared was momentarily stunned, but quickly pulled Kieran to his feet. "You're our family's savior! Thank you for your kindness! We don't have much money, I don't know how to repay you" Kieran thanked him profusely. Initially skeptical, he was now eternally grateful.
"Mr. Chance isn't here for money, Kieran," Walter advised. "If it were about money, he wouldn't be here!"
"True, true! He's not short of money!" Kieran nodded fervently, having seen Jared and Josephine arrive in a luxurious car.
"Let me get you some chickens and ducks for a feast, Mr. Chance! I raise them myself." Kieran started to move towards the coop.
Jared quickly stopped him. "Don't be a stranger, Mr. Snyder. If you want to thank me, may I have the meat reishi mushroom? I'll pay for it."
Kieran was puzzled. "Didn't you say it's poisonous and has no medicinal value, Mr. Chance? Why do you want it?"
"It's useless to most people, but I need it for my training." Jared explained that he could use it to significantly improve his skills. [Remove the promotional sentence about the website.]
Without hesitation, Kieran gave Jared the mushroom. Jared offered to pay, but Kieran refused.
Leaving Kieran's house, Josephine sighed, "I thought I'd see something exciting, but nothing happened."
Jared chuckled. "There aren't many ghosts and spirits in this world. Just don't faint if you ever see one."
"I won't, with you protecting me!" Josephine beamed.
After dropping Jared off, Josephine drove away. From behind a large tree in the courtyard, Hilda watched Jared's departure, a mix of emotions swirling within her. She'd been waiting to see the woman with him, but the darkness and Josephine remaining in the car prevented her from doing so.
"Let's go home, Sweetie. If he chose the rich girl, that's his choice," Chloe said, patting Hilda's shoulder.
"Yeah," Hilda nodded, tears shimmering in her eyes.
Jared went to bed early. It was Saturday, and he planned a trip to Dragon Bay. The abundant spiritual energy and lack of distractions made it the perfect place to absorb the essence of the meat reishi mushroom.
