Chapter 179: Not All That Bad

Lydia noticed Jared had hit another carโ€”a Maserati. She exclaimed, โ€œYouโ€™ve hit the jackpot, Jared! Of all cars, a Maserati! This car costs millions; your insurance won't cover it!โ€

โ€œThat's none of your concern,โ€ Jared retorted coldly. โ€œIt's my problem.โ€

โ€œJared, the company won't give you a salary advance. Why were you driving that wreck? You're going bankrupt!โ€

Zayne smirked, his jubilation evident. โ€œWhat happened, Jared? You're in trouble!โ€ Maria chided, frowning.

โ€œIt's just a minor fender bender,โ€ Jared smirked, unconcerned.

โ€œA minor fender bender? It's a multi-million-dollar Maserati!โ€ Lydia sneered.

โ€œJared, stick to motorbikes. You're a menace behind the wheel! Hitting a Porsche next will bankrupt you, even if you sold yourself!โ€ Zayne said, his scorn barely concealed. [The extraneous promotional sentence has been removed]

The woman, observing Zayne and the others mocking Jared, believed him to be a penniless deadbeat. She shouted, โ€œYou wanted to hit my car, kid? Go ahead!โ€ She continued to taunt him.

Ignoring her, Jared started to ram his car into the Maserati. Maria grabbed him. โ€œHave you lost your mind? Get out! Do you know how much that car costs? You can't afford the damages even if you sold everything you own!โ€

She hadn't wanted to intervene, but crashing into a Maserati was serious. He'd owe a fortune, and if he couldn't pay, he'd come begging her family for a loan.

โ€œLet him be! Let him hit it. If he can't pay, he'll go to jail. He's been there before!โ€ Zayne said, annoyed she'd stopped Jared.

โ€œHe'd owe millions! Even selling their house wouldn't cover it! What about his parents?โ€ Maria snapped, glaring at Zayne.

She disliked Jared and his family, believing they leached off her wealthy family. However, she didn't want them destitute. If he hit the car, his family would be ruined.

Zayne fumed at her staunch defense of Jared. Jared, in turn, looked at Maria, his opinion of her improving. Hmm, sheโ€™s not so bad after all.

Two vans arrived, disgorging a dozen menacing men carrying batons.

The woman rushed to a man in sportswear. โ€œDarling, someone hit me! Look at my face!โ€

Examining her face, the man erupted in rage. โ€œWho hit my wife? Show yourself!โ€
