Chapter 18: I Know My Daughter Best

“Your servant, Tommy Lewis, head of the Templar Regiment, is at your service, My Lord!”

“At your service, My Lord!” echoed the few hundred members of the Templar Regiment in unison.

Jared was shocked. He was unaware of such a status.

“Uh… H-Have you mistaken me? I’m not your overlord!” He shook his head.

“The person wearing the Dragon Ring is the overlord of the Dragon Sect. There’s no mistake,” Tommy asserted.

A fragment of memory surfaced. Back in prison, Draco had insisted he was the overlord, later giving Jared a ring. It seemed this ring was the reason for Tommy's claim.

“You mean this ring?” Jared asked, removing it.

“Yes. That’s the Dragon Ring of the Dragon Sect. Whoever wears it is the overlord,” Tommy explained, gazing at the ring.

Discomforted by their kneeling, Jared waved a hand. “Please rise.”

“Thank you, My Lord!”

The Templars rose.

“Honestly, I’m not your overlord. Someone gifted me this ring. You’ve mistaken me!” Jared clarified.

“We only acknowledge the Dragon Ring, not the person. Since you possess it, you’re our overlord!” Tommy replied respectfully.

Jared was speechless. Draco had deliberately passed on his position!

“Are you all members of the Dragon Sect?” he asked.

“Yes. The Dragon Sect has thirteen regiments; the Templar Regiment is one. However, we rarely communicate with other regiments, except when summoned by the overlord. We can’t reveal our identities otherwise,” Tommy explained.

Jared was astounded. A single Templar Regiment could control Horington; thirteen such regiments meant the Dragon Sect was terrifyingly powerful.

“My Lord, besides the thirteen regiments in Chanaea, we have branches worldwide. My rank is too low for specifics,” Tommy added.

Jared’s shock intensified. Worldwide branches? How could Draco, seemingly so unremarkable, be such a powerful figure?

He anticipated July 15th. Perhaps then he’d learn more.

After his shock subsided, he waved a hand. “You’re dismissed. I’ll call if needed.”

“Understood!” Tommy bowed slightly, departing with his men. Jared remained motionless, overwhelmed by his sudden new identity.

Meanwhile, at the Glamor Hotel, William and Josephine were in the manager’s office. It was Sullivan family property.

“Were you serious with Mr. Chance, Josephine?” William asked, intently watching her.

“What are you referring to?” Josephine feigned ignorance.

“Don’t play coy! I know my daughter. I know your thoughts,” William retorted, smirking.

“Dad, I was just helping him. How could I possibly have feelings for him? We just met!”

Josephine rolled her eyes, though a blush colored her cheeks.

“He’s quite good-looking, and his medical skills are impressive. But I’m not sure about other aspects…”

William had a favorable impression of Jared, but medical skills weren't enough to be a Sullivan son-in-law. Josephine was his only daughter, inheriting the family business. He needed someone who could help her manage the company.
