Chapter 184: You Are Unlucky
Jared pointed at the top of the hill. โThat mansion at the top of the hill is mine.โ
โAt the top of the hill?โ Zayne stared, then burst into laughter. โAre you kidding me, Jared? Do you know how much a mansion on the top of the hill costs? Even if you sold your family, you couldn't afford it! That's the most ridiculous boast I've ever heard!โ
Lydia joined in the laughter. Maria simply rolled her eyes. To her, Jared was hopelessly incompetent.
The sales associate, Faith, chimed in, โSir, do you know how much that mansion costs? How dare you boast about it?โ
โWho are you to say I'm boasting?โ Jared demanded coldly.
โI sold that mansion. The owner's last name is Sullivan, not Chance. How can you claim itโs yours?โ Faith challenged, waiting for an explanation.
โSomeone gave it to me!โ Jared replied with a smile.
Faith hid a chuckle. โSure! You can claim someone gave you the entire district of Dragon Bay! That's not illegal. However, youโve entered Dragon Bay without permission. I have to ask you to leave.โ
As Faith finished, a security guard, Kevin, approached, grinning at Faith. โFaith, what brings you here today?โ
โKevin, someone barged into the district! Youโre just in time to remove him.โ Faith pointed at Jared.
Kevin sized Jared up, noting the battered Ford. He exploded, โDamn it! How dare you barge into the district I oversee? Do you want to die? I'm the head of security! You should have asked permissionโฆโ
Zayne interrupted, โKevin, he also crashed into a luxury car at the entrance, and the owner threatened to beat him up. He probably barged in because he was scared. Catching him would be a huge achievement!โ
Lydia nodded vigorously. Maria, though silent, looked equally displeased. I really don't want to deal with Jared anymore. His boasting is infuriating! she thought.
Kevin added, โYou jerk! You crashed into a car and then barged in? Youโre incredibly unlucky to run into me today.โ He reached for Jared.
But Jared swiftly grabbed Kevin's wrist, twisting it. Kevin yelped in pain.
โThat hurt, you jerk! Let go! Do you know who I am? My brother-in-law is the maintenance department manager! If you touch me, you won't leave this place!โ Kevin roared.
โYou attacked me without knowing the situation! How did you become head of security? I own property here. Is this how you treat clients?โ Jared countered.
โJ-Just let goโฆ Iโll ask around first.โ Seeing Jared's skill, Kevin conceded.
Jared released Kevin, who, rubbing his wrist, glared at Jared before grabbing his walkie-talkie. [The final sentence containing website information has been removed as it is promotional and out of place within the narrative.]
