Chapter 21: Eradicate the Traitors

Leonidas, disgruntled, had no other recourse. He scoffed coldly. “You seem to have guessed correctly. Now, let's see how you intend to dispel this frosty energy.”

Jared responded calmly, “I can dispel the frosty energy from Abbot Erasmus's daughter without any equipment. Furthermore, I can enable her to utilize the energy within her.”

“Very well. Proceed. I'll observe,” Leonidas said, stepping aside with a dissatisfied expression.

“None of you may watch me treat her; I must remove her clothing. I cannot do this with you present.”

Leonidas was shocked. “You dare! You pervert! You've come to take advantage of the girl, not heal her! That's forbidden! She's only eighteen! How dare you remove her clothing?”

Erasmus was equally bewildered. My daughter is unmarried! How can I allow a man to see her naked? What if word gets out? Her reputation will be ruined! And how can I be sure Jared won't do something improper while alone with her?

Walter and William shared Erasmus’s concerns. They couldn't understand why Jared needed to undress the girl to heal her.

Josephine stared at Jared and questioned, “Jared, are you taking advantage of this young girl?”

Frustrated by the accusations, Jared said, “I didn't say I'd strip her completely naked! I only need to remove her outer garments. It seemed inappropriate for others to witness that. If you fear I'll do something improper, you can all stay and watch!”

Erasmus felt relieved. Since she won't be completely naked, I have nothing to worry about. And someone will be present. He's not likely to do anything foolish.

“Senior, perhaps we should wait outside? We can check on them afterward,” Erasmus suggested.

“Agreed! If he fails to heal her, I will never forgive him!” Leonidas scoffed, tapping his cane before leaving.

At that moment, a monk burst in.

“Disaster! Someone is forcing their way in! We can't stop them!” The monk, petrified, bore a fresh slap mark on his cheek.

“Incredible!” Erasmus roared, rushing out.

Outside, he encountered a young man with long hair and a long-sleeved shirt, bearing a cross—appearing holy. Two badly beaten monks, their faces swollen shut, trailed behind him.

The young man spoke sarcastically, “Master Erasmus, I was stopped entering Lagrange Monastery. Why?”

Erasmus thundered, “Falcon, I am not your master. Your mentor betrayed the monastery; he is no longer affiliated. Drop the formality, and explain why you've assaulted my monks!”

Unfazed, Falcon maintained his sarcastic tone. “Master Erasmus, I journeyed here to treat your daughter! Why are you so hostile?”

Leonidas stepped forward, barking, “Renee doesn't need you! Leave immediately! And tell your mentor to prepare himself—I will eradicate the traitors!”
