Chapter 224: A Veritable Goddess

“Darling, can you really see?”

Shock etched on his face, Gary waved his hands before Hannah’s face.

Hannah nodded vigorously. “Yes, I can see! Stop waving your hands. And shave your beard daily! You look unkempt!”

Gary touched his beard, elation flooding his face. He hugged Hannah. “This is amazing, darling! You can really see!” His eyes were red-rimmed with emotion, despite his usual egotism.

Jared smiled, gratified by his parents’ joy. He’d never seen them quarrel, though his father was egotistical and overbearing. He understood his father’s feelings for Hannah, even if she wasn't as outwardly affectionate.

“What are you doing? Jared’s still here!” Hannah pushed Gary playfully.

“Haha… Come, darling, let’s enjoy the scenery outside! It’s lovely!” Gary, laughing heartily, pulled Hannah toward the mountain view.

Josephine descended the stairs in a white dress. “What’s all the excitement?”

Hannah, turning, gasped at the sight of Josephine. She’d imagined Josephine’s beauty countless times, expecting the heiress to be stunning, but the reality surpassed her expectations.

“Josephine, you’re… you’re simply too beautiful!”

Josephine froze. “Mrs. Chance, you… you can see?”

“Yes! I imagined you were beautiful, but you’re far more stunning! You’re a goddess!” Hannah gushed, taking Josephine’s hands.

Josephine blushed. “Don’t flatter me, Mrs. Chance! You’ll make me vain!”

“I’m not flattering you! You’re truly beautiful. Let me look at you properly!” Hannah’s intense scrutiny made Josephine even more embarrassed.

“Mom, Dad wants to show you the night view. The rain stopped; it’s exquisite!” Jared said, prompting Hannah. Josephine will be uncomfortable if you stare at her any longer, he thought.

“Yes! Come see the night view of Horington! It’s mesmerizing!” Gary exclaimed, taking Hannah’s hand.

Hannah, eager to comply, turned to Josephine. “Josephine, it’s late. Stay the night. I’ll cook breakfast tomorrow!”

After Gary pulled Hannah away, Jared asked Josephine, “Are you really staying?”

Josephine nodded. “Of course! I’m going to bed. Wake me if I oversleep.”

Watching her ascend the stairs, Jared noticed her thighs and quickly retreated to his room, fearing he couldn't control himself.

Josephine, seeing him leave, pouted. “What a moron!”

The next morning, Jared was engrossed in cultivation. The Starry Compass had significantly increased his speed, but his growing abilities demanded more resources. He’d consumed much of the compass’s resentment and spiritual energy, yet his progress paled in comparison to his gains from the meat reishi mushroom.
