Chapter 228: A Call From Tommy
โJaredโs a lot stronger than your Tibetan Mastiff, Leroy. He learned martial arts in prisonโheโs awesome. He even broke Warrickโs legs,โ Juliette said with a sarcastic smile.
The others gasped at Jared's confession, turning to stare at him in shock.
โIf he can break Warrickโs leg, he might be stronger than my Tibetan Mastiff. Guess I'll have to add a bit more money!โ Leroy sneered at Jared.
โBelieve me, Iโll break your legs, too,โ Jared said calmly.
โWhat did you just say? Say it again,โ Leroy snarled, grabbing a wine bottle and glaring furiously at Jared.
Seeing Leroyโs anger, Virgil quickly intervened, โLeroy, thereโs no need to get angry. Jaredโs just joking.โ
Another person chimed in, โThis is Fortune Street, Leroy. The whole streetโs under Mr. Lewisโs control, including this restaurant. Making a mess here will incur Mr. Lewisโs wrath!โ
โI donโt care! My cousin manages this place; I can do whatever I want!โ Leroy boasted.
The others immediately showered him with admiration.
โLeroyโs so awesome! To have a cousin like that!โ
โThat means his cousin is one of Mr. Lewisโs men! He must be important!โ
โAs long as Leroyโs with us, weโve got nothing to worry about!โ
Leroy basked in the praise. โIf any of you have trouble on Fortune Street, just call me! Iโm also getting married to Pamela hereโyouโre all invited!โ
โOf course! Weโll definitely be thereโฆโ the others chorused, nodding.
Juliette finally understood why Leroy had suggested this reunion location. Sheโd expected to pay a lot for the meal, but now it seemed she might eat for free! This prospect significantly improved her mood.
Just then, Tommy called Jared. Heโd been waiting for some time, prompting the call. โAre you here yet, Mr. Chance?โ
โWait for me,โ Jared replied, ending the call abruptly. [Remove the website promotion]
Virgil attempted to defuse the situation, โWho called, Jared? Something you need to attend to? You can leave if you need to.โ He didn't want Jared to escalate the situation with Leroy.
โItโs nothing. Tommy called.โ Jared pocketed his phone.
โTommy?โ Virgil was momentarily stunned, the name familiar. He realized who it was. โYou mean Tommy Lewis, owner of Meadow Restaurant?โ
Jared nodded. โI guess so.โ He wasnโt entirely sure; he didnโt know all of Tommyโs businesses. He only knew Tommy managed the Templar Regiment. A regiment that size wouldnโt thrive without significant holdings, making restaurant ownership unsurprising.
Leroy spat out his water, laughing. โI didnโt expect you to be a joker, Jared! You claim Mr. Lewis called and you kept him waiting? If youโre going to lie, at least be believable!โ
The others joined in the laughter. Pamela sneered, narrowing her eyes. โI bet youโve never even met Mr. Lewis. Youโve got some nerve!โ
Of everyone present, only Juliette knew Jared had met Tommy at Sandyโs wedding. However, she knew nothing of their relationship.
