Chapter 229: Do Not Mess Around
Virgil, apologetic, regretted his earlier words as he looked at Jared. Jared, however, remained unperturbed.
The private room door opened, and Sandy entered, clad in a fancy dress, high heels, and an array of jewelry.
โSandyโs here! Youโre getting more beautiful by the day!โ someone exclaimed.
โThat dress is expensive! And the necklace and earrings too!โ another chimed in.
โSheโs the wife of a rich guy! Look at her! We canโt compare!โ The others rose, showering Sandy with flattery, which she visibly enjoyed.
In truth, her dress was a cheap knockoff, and her jewelry fake. Leyton, after dismissing her, had reclaimed everything, including her Dragon Bay property. This loss had driven her back to Jared that rainy night. Sheโd brought the fake jewelry to the reunion, knowing some classmates were unaware of her situation with Leyton.
Jared, unlike the others, remained seated, casually sipping his drink.
โJared?โ Sandy noticed him, shocked by his unexpected presence.
Juliette whispered to Sandy, โLeroy bumped into Jared and invited him. Itโs good heโs here. Iโll make him embarrass himself in front of everyone and youโllโโ
โDonโt mess around, Juliette!โ Sandy glared, warning her friend. She was unsure of Jaredโs current connections, but she knew they were powerfulโbeyond even the Scott familyโs reach.
Juliette, stunned, stared at Sandy in disbelief.
Sandy pushed past the others to Jared. โShoo. Iโll sit next to Jared,โ she said to Virgil, who quickly obliged, unwilling to offend her.
Immediately, Jared recoiled, staring at Sandy coldly. โI hate your smell. Get away from me.โ
A gasp rippled through the room. Even Virgil stared in astonishment. Sandy was, to their knowledge, part of the wealthy Scott family. They couldn't believe his audacity.
Leroy, seizing an opportunity, roared, โWhat the hell, Jared? How dare you speak to Sandy like that! I'll beat you up!โ
Sandy's response, however, surprised everyone. She coldly barked at Leroy, โShut your mouth! You donโt talk to Jared like that!โ
Leroy was dumbfounded.
A bitter smile touched Sandyโs lips before she spoke softly to Jared, โThen Iโll sit far away. As long as I can see you.โ
She happily seated herself across from him, smiling.
Juliette, bewildered, whispered, โAre you alright, Sandy?โ
โShut your mouth!โ Sandy snapped, wanting to avoid further complications.
After the meal arrived, everyone fawned over Sandy, ignoring Jared and Virgil. Sandy alone treated Jared kindly, offering him food and suggesting he drink less, behaving like a solicitous wife. He ignored her, knowing her true nature.
