Chapter 23: Sheer Luck
A car slowly passed, its window rolling down to reveal a mischievously smiling Jared.
"Jared? Is that Jared?" Warrick exclaimed, the first to notice.
Sandy and Juliette quickly followed his gaze. Sandy's fury was immediate. "How did that brat get in? Those security guards are useless!"
Juliette furrowed her brows. "Could he be a resident? A security guard was driving him."
Warrick watched the car ascend the mountain. "And they're driving up the mountain! Is their mansion higher than yours, Sandy?"
"Impossible! Jared couldn't afford it. I know his family's finances," Sandy insisted, unable to believe what she saw.
Juliette offered a theory. "Maybe the Sullivan family gave him the mansion. Mr. Sullivan told me Jared saved his life."
"That's it!" Warrick nodded. "What luck! If he hadn't saved Mr. Sullivan, he'd have died at the Glamor Hotel!"
Utterly dissatisfied, Sandy gritted her teeth, opened her car door, and declared, "Let's follow them!" She was determined to see if Jared truly owned a mansion in Dragon Bay.
Sandy's Mercedes-Benz pursued the car toward the mountaintop.
Juliette's anxiety grew. "This can't be! Is Jared really going to the most expensive mansion?"
Warrick remained skeptical. "No way. That mansion is worth at least a hundred million. Jared couldn't afford it even if his family worked their whole lives. And why would the Sullivans be so generous?"
They arrived at the mansion. A security guard stopped Sandy's Mercedes-Benz. "Hello, Miss. You can't go any further. This is private property."
Jared, aware of their pursuit, smirked upon seeing them stopped.
When Jared and his parents arrived, the mansion was shrouded in thick fog, creating a breathtaking scene. Jared and Gary were astounded; Hannah, though blind, felt the fresh air.
Security guards helped with their luggage, the captain apologizing again to Jared.
Jared embraced Hannah, leading her into the mansion. "Mom, you'll stay here with Dad. The environment is wonderful for you."
Gary was stunned by the mansion's luxury, a level he'd never witnessed. He wanted to apologize to Jared, but pride held him back.
After a tour, Jared suggested exploring the grounds. "Mom and Dad, let's go outside. You'll get lost otherwise!"
Hannah smiled brightly. "All right! Since I can't see, describe everything!"
"Mom, don't worry. I'll get your eyes fixed!" Jared reassured her, leading his parents on a tour, showcasing the magnificent view.
