Chapter 24: Meeting the Parents

As Jared led them around, he sensed the potent spiritual energy of the place, crucial for his cultivation. "What a perfect location for training!" he muttered.

"What did you say?" Hannah asked.

"Oh, nothing. I said this is a perfect place for retirement!" Jared laughed awkwardly.

They reached the entrance gate, where Sandy's car was parked. Sandy and her companions were still there, and they saw Jared approaching. He smiled coldly at them, his contempt evident. Sandy's teeth were clenched so tightly it was audible. She couldn't accept that Jared was now the owner of the coveted mansion.

"What a generous friend you have, Jared! Lending you this mansion! Would you ask him to dinner with us?" Hannah was oblivious to their presence.

"Sure!" Jared nodded.

Sandy felt a flicker of satisfaction at Hannah's words. It seemed the mansion wasn't his after all.

"I've just confirmed it. This mansion belongs to the Sullivan family. Jared's clearly showing off something that isn't his!" Warrick exclaimed, seemingly reading a text message.

"He saved William's life, and now he plans to leech off him for life! Shameless!" Juliette mocked.

Thanks to Hannah, Sandy and her companions no longer felt inferior.

"Even if I'm only borrowing the mansion, it's still far better than yours! Come on over, then," Jared retorted, wagging a finger at them.

"Don't get ahead of yourself, Jared. I don't believe the Sullivan family will stand by you forever!" Sandy snapped before turning and leaving.

The gate's elevation favored Jared's side, adding to Sandy's sense of defeat.

"Jared, stay away from Sandy. She's vicious," Hannah advised, having heard her tone.

"Got it, Mom. Let's continue our tour!" Jared said, taking Hannah's arm as they walked on, Gary trailing behind.

After a while, they returned to the mansion to rest. A red Porsche suddenly arrived. Jared saw Josephine.

"Ms. Sullivan, what are you doing here?" he asked, surprised.

"Please, call me Josephine. Security called to say you might have stolen the mansion key. I came to clarify."

Grateful for her effort, Jared replied, "It's fine. Everything's settled. But I need a favor!"

"Go ahead," Josephine nodded.

"I told my parents a friend lent me the mansion. Could you play along? There are things I'd rather not tell them," Jared whispered.

"Sure, no problem!" Josephine smiled, then turned back. "Does this count as me asking for their blessing for us?" she teased.

"Ummโ€ฆ" Jared was stunned.
