Chapter 254: My Treat

Jared phoned Tommy, asking him to pick him up. He planned to give Tommy the revitalizing pills he'd just made and then reserve a table at Meadow Restaurant.

Tommy arrived quickly, and they went straight to the restaurant. In Tommy's office, Jared handed him the pills, saying, "There are twenty pills. The cost is what you spent on the herbs. I won't interfere with how you sell them or set the price. That's up to you. If there's good demand, we can increase production."

Tommy took the pills, replying, "Got it. By the way, I've reserved Majestic Hall for you—the best room. Your guests will be impressed."

Jared shook his head. "No need. A basic private room is fine. We need to save money for other things."

Jared had no familial affection for his uncle's family; in fact, he harbored resentment. His family had lived in the countryside until Gary's promotion brought them to the city. Then, Jared's uncle, Benedict Chance (Gary's younger brother), would visit when they needed help. Gary later helped Benedict and his family move to the city and found Stella a job. Everyone sat down. Jared's family was relegated to a corner; Benedict sat at the head of the table, impassive but with a hint of disdain in his eyes, likely stemming from his position as a government office administrator.
