Chapter 254: My Treat

Jared phoned Tommy, asking him to pick him up. He planned to give Tommy the revitalizing pills he'd just made and then reserve a table at Meadow Restaurant.

Tommy arrived quickly, and they went straight to the restaurant. In Tommy's office, Jared handed him the pills, saying, "There are twenty pills. The cost is what you spent on the herbs. I won't interfere with how you sell them or set the price. That's up to you. If there's good demand, we can increase production."

Tommy took the pills, replying, "Got it. By the way, I've reserved Majestic Hall for youโ€”the best room. Your guests will be impressed."

Jared shook his head. "No need. A basic private room is fine. We need to save money for other things."

Tommy nodded. "Okay. Got it."

Jared had no familial affection for his uncle's family; in fact, he harbored resentment. His family had lived in the countryside until Gary's promotion brought them to the city. Then, Jared's uncle, Benedict Chance (Gary's younger brother), would visit when they needed help. Gary later helped Benedict and his family move to the city and found Stella a job. However, as Benedict's career progressed, they began to look down on Gary's family. Their contempt intensified after Jared's imprisonment and Gary's job loss. Benedict and his family never visited, ignoring them completely.

Hannah had mentioned their mansion to impress them.

At noon, Jared's parents arrived with Benedict and his family. After Jared seated them in the private room, Stella surveyed the surroundings and pursed her lips. "You're staying in a magnificent mansion, yet you bring us here for lunch? Clearly, you don't consider us family."

Jared's cousin, Gianna Chance, sneered. "Mom, we talked about this! They're only borrowing it; they don't own it. A mansion like that costs a hundred millionโ€”how could they afford it?"

Stella chuckled. "Oh, dear, I forgot!"

Everyone sat down. Jared's family was relegated to a corner; Benedict sat at the head of the table, impassive but with a hint of disdain in his eyes, likely stemming from his position as a government office administrator. Stella, dripping in jewels and heavy, unflattering makeup, sat to his left, with her son, Javier Chance, beside her. Javier was a few months younger than Jared; their grandfather had named them both, choosing names starting with "J." Unlike Jared, Javier was idle and unmarried; Jared would have been happily married if not for his imprisonment.

To Benedict's right sat Simon Moore, Jared's arrogant cousin-in-law, whose father was Benedict's superior in a ministry. Gianna sat next to Simon, looking like the epitome of a wealthy wife.

Once seated, Benedict pompously declared, "Jared, when did you acquire such a wealthy friend? She has a huge mansion on Dragon Summit and is generous enough to lend it to you. You should introduce her to me. I heard your mother say she's a girl. Which family is she from? Perhaps we could set her up with Javier."

The final sentence, "S~แด‡aส€แด„h the FษชndNรธvel.nแด‡t website on Gรธรธglแด‡ to access chapters of novels early and in the highest quality," appears to be an advertisement and has been removed.
