Chapter 258: Wine Served with Contempt

โ€œDad, Mom, let me pour you each a glass. This is an expensive, limited-edition Sauvignon Blancโ€”we wouldnโ€™t have this opportunity without Simon!โ€ Gianna uncorked the bottle and poured for Stella and Benedict.

โ€œGianna, pour me some too! Iโ€™ve never tasted that before!โ€ Javier grinned, holding up his glass.

โ€œMove aside! Youโ€™re too young for wine!โ€ Gianna glared at him before pouring full glasses for Simon and herself.

โ€œSimon, help me out here,โ€ Javier pleaded, looking at his brother-in-law.

Simon chuckled. โ€œPour Javier a glass. Itโ€™s rare, and this is all we have. It wonโ€™t be produced again.โ€

โ€œThank you, Simon!โ€ Javier happily poured himself a glass.

Benedictโ€™s family filled their glasses with the Sauvignon Blanc, but Jared and his family received none. Hannah abstained from alcohol, and Jared was preoccupied. Gary, however, was visibly craving the wine. He felt it inappropriate to ask for some, given it was a gift for Simon.

Benedict and his family smirked at Garyโ€™s longing expression.

โ€œJavier, pour your uncle some wine,โ€ Stella said, raising an eyebrow. โ€œEven though itโ€™s Mr. Lewisโ€™s gift to Simon, Uncle Gary is treating us to dinner. He deserves a taste!โ€

โ€œAll right!โ€ Javier picked up the bottle. โ€œUncle Gary, let me pour you some. If you donโ€™t drink it now, you might never have another chance!โ€

Initially, Gary hesitated, sensing the contempt. But the wineโ€™s aroma was too tempting to resist. He held out his glass.

Javier smirked and poured a few drops. โ€œThis wine is incredibly expensive; those few drops cost over a thousand! Just a taste, Uncle Gary!โ€

He then set down the bottle. Gary eagerly drank the meager portion, savoring the aftertaste. โ€œNo doubtโ€”itโ€™s the limited-edition Sauvignon Blanc! Amazing!โ€

Everyone laughed at Garyโ€™s reaction.

โ€œSit down! You look pathetic!โ€ Hannah snapped, pulling him back to his seat. His obsession with alcohol was excessive; he needed a few sips daily.

โ€œLetโ€™s drink!โ€ Simon raised his glass and drained it. Benedict and his family quickly finished both bottles. Meanwhile, Jaredโ€™s family was completely ignored.

A ringtone interrupted. Simon checked his phone: a text from his father.

โ€œSimon, is that your dad? Mr. Lowe should have arrived by now, right?โ€ Benedict asked anxiously.

โ€œYes, theyโ€™re at Majestic Hall. Dad wants us to go now,โ€ Simon replied.

Benedict trembled with excitement. He was honored to dine with the cityโ€™s mayor.

โ€œLetโ€™s hurry! We canโ€™t keep them waiting!โ€ He grabbed his glass.

โ€œI want to go too, Dad! Iโ€™ve never drunk with such a big shot before!โ€ Javier stood, glass in hand.

โ€œYouโ€™re too young! Stay here!โ€ Benedict glared at him, fearing Javier would offend Glen Lowe and cause problems.

โ€œDad, let Javier come. Itโ€™ll be good for him,โ€ Simon urged.

โ€œAll right, but don't open your mouth unless spoken to!โ€ Benedict warned Javier sternly.
