Chapter 263: Wrong Room

The door opened, revealing Simon, Benedict, and Benedict's family. Devin was shocked. The occupants of the room were equally surprised to see Glen and Devin.

"What are you guys doing here?" Devin asked, astonished.

"Dad, we're having a meal," Simon replied, puzzled. "Why are you here?"

"Mr. Lowe is here to offer Mr. Chance a toast!" Devin stated.

Benedict was stunned. He trembled slightly as he stood, muttering, "Am I dreaming? Mr. Lowe, it would be a tremendous honor! I'm afraid I'm not worthy!"

He raised his wine glass and approached Glen, thinking, Devin must have put in a good word! That's why Glen's here!

"Get lost!" Devin shoved Benedict away. "Mr. Lowe isn't here for you. He's here for Mr. Chance!"

Bewildered, Benedict wondered, Which other Mr. Chance? Javier? Why would the mayor toast Javier? He dismissed Jared as an ex-convictโ€”the idea of the mayor toasting him was illogical.

"Mr. Moore, I think it can only be me," Benedict said cautiously. "There isn't another Mr. Chance."

Devin glanced around. "Indeed, only Benedict and his family are here. It can't be Jared; he's just an ordinary youngster."

"Mr. Lowe, did we come to the wrong room? There's no other Mr. Chance!" Devin said respectfully.

Tommy shoved Devin aside and approached Jared. Glen followed, saying, "Mr. Chance, I heard you're here. I came to offer a toast. I hope I'm not intruding."

A deafening silence fell. Benedict and his family, along with Glen's entourage, were stunned. Why is the mayor so respectful to this youngster?

Tommy chuckled quietly. Glen's officials quickly recovered. There must be a reason! Perhaps he's the son of someone important! They raised their glasses and toasted Jared.

Benedict and his family were pale and intimidated. Devin was shocked and glared at Benedict, silently demanding an explanation. Benedict, however, was speechless, unable to reveal Jared's true status as an ex-convict.

Tommy eyed Jared's empty glass. "Mr. Chance, how's the wine? I'll get another bottle."

"What wine?" Jared asked sharply.

"The Sauvignon Blanc specially delivered! You've finished both bottles!" Tommy pointed at the empty bottles.

Jared glared at Simon. "I didn't have a sip. Someone said it was for them."
