Chapter 264: I Will Pay
"Who drank the liquor I gave Mr. Chance? Step forward!" Tommy roared, glaring at Benedict and his family. His ferocious glare terrified them; their faces drained of color. All eyes turned to Simon.
"I-I didn't do anything! It's just an assumption! It has nothing to do with me!" Simon stammered, his legs trembling. Tommy's fearsome reputation was well-known; provoking him was akin to poking a bear.
"So you did drink it! Who told you to?" Tommy lunged at Simon, grabbing him by the collar. "Spit it out!"
Bam!
Tommy punched Simon in the abdomen. Simon shrieked in agony.
"Mr. Lewis, please stop! He's my son! Please, for my sake!" Devin rushed forward, attempting to intervene.
"Stay out of it! You're just a health minister! You dare stop me?!" Tommy kicked Devin aside and continued to beat Simon.
The Chance family cowered as Simon's cries filled the room.
"Mr. Lewis, how much is the wine? I'll pay," Devin blurted out, fearing for his son's life.
"They were limited-edition Sauvignon Blanc. Five hundred thousand per bottle. That's one million!" Tommy snarled.
"One million?!" Devin was stunned. A million was a significant sum for a health minister. Though he had savings, he was reluctant to spend it.
Seeing Devin's hesitation, Tommy continued to beat Simon.
"Mr. Lewis, please stop! I'll send you the money now." Devin quickly transferred one million.
Upon receiving the payment, Tommy released Simon. Turning to Jared, he said, "Mr. Chance, this was due to my oversight. I'll send someone for the liquor."
Tommy dispatched his men. Jared, meanwhile, offered a cold smile to Benedict and his family.
"Who said I'd be punished if I didn't pay?" Jared stood and approached them.
Terror-stricken, Javier collapsed, hiding behind Benedict and Stella.
"Jared, it's my fault! Please don't hurt Javier! I'll pay for everything!" Benedict pleaded.
"Tommy, the bill," Jared ordered.
"Two hundred thousand," Tommy announced.
Stella gasped. "Two hundred thousand? What did we even eat?"
"Shut up!" Benedict snapped.
Tommy narrowed his eyes. "Is that too much? Should I itemize it?"
"No, we'll pay," Benedict stammered, hastily paying the bill. He regretted his impulsive order, intended only to humiliate Jared. He'd severely miscalculated.
Jared turned to Glen. "Mr. Lowe, Horington's employees seem well-compensated. Even a health minister and an office administrator can afford hundreds of thousands."
