Chapter 279: Promotion
Steven smiled, even as he noticed blood trickling from Francis's mouth. The next moment, Francis collapsed, unconscious. Steven's smile froze; shock replaced it. He fell to his knees, pleading, "Mr. Chance, I'm so sorry Please spare my life, Mr. Chance! I'll give you everything, I'll leave Horington forever!" He trembled, terrified, feeling as fragile as an ant.
Felix, meanwhile, slumped to the ground, dazed and silent. He'd assumed Steven, as gang leader, had arranged backup against Jared. He'd been wrong.
Jared had intended to eliminate Steven, but changed his mind after hearing his plea. He needed money, and Steven was wealthy.
"Very well," Jared said. "I'll spare your life. Leave Horington."
Jared waved him away. Relieved, Steven bowed and fled.
Jared turned to Tommy. "Now that Steven's gone, you take over his assets and the gang."
"Okay," Tommy replied weakly, seemingly crushed. He'd believed the enhancement pill made him invincible, but a young man had defeated him.
Jared patted Tommy's back, a smile on his face. "Don't worry. Work hard, make money. I'll create a more powerful pillโone that will make you unbeatable!"
Tommy's eyes lit up. "Really?"
Jared nodded. "Of course. Why would I lie? Work hard with me. Our priority is moneyโenough to buy expensive herbs in Yeringham!"
Tommy was excited. "That's easy! Twenty revitalizing pills today equals forty million!"
Jared knew this, but lacked Tommy's enthusiasm. Two million per pill was expensive, but insufficient. He needed billions. Horington was small; revitalizing pill sales would plateau. They needed a wider market.
Noticing Jared's displeasure, Tommy asked, "My Lord, are you not satisfied?"
Jared said calmly, "Horington is small. To make real money, we need a wider market for the revitalizing pills."
Tommy was apprehensive. "My Lord, I'm not good at business. We'll need professional help." He admitted he was a thug, capable of running a bar, but not a large-scale business.
Jared frowned. His earlier methods wouldn't work for large-scale promotion.
Then Tommy's eyes brightened. "The Sullivan familyโHorington's wealthiest! Mr. Sullivan is a businessman. Why not talk to him?"
The mention of William sparked realization in Jared. Right! My future father-in-law!
"You handle the Horington sales and prepare the herbs," Jared instructed. "I'm going to the Sullivan residence!" He left.
At the Sullivan residence, William exercised in the courtyard. His business had grown to a point where professionals handled most operations, leaving him free from the daily grind.
