Chapter 280: Not Talking to You

Josephine was feeding the fish in the pond, but she seemed distracted.

โ€œJosephine, are you upset about not seeing Jared for two days?โ€ William smiled at his daughter.

โ€œDad, what are you talking about? I donโ€™t want to see him!โ€ Josephine retorted. She mumbled to herself, โ€œStupid Jared! How can he not come looking for me just because I didnโ€™t [โ€ฆ]? โ€

William chuckled, saying nothing. He knew his daughter well.

Just then, Jared walked in.

Happiness bloomed on Josephineโ€™s face, and she approached him. โ€œJared, are you here to see me?โ€

Jared shook his head. โ€œIโ€™m here to discuss something with Mr. Sullivan.โ€

Josephineโ€™s face scrunched up, and she glared at him.

Jared laughed. โ€œIโ€™m just teasing. Of course Iโ€™m here to see you.โ€

Josephine smacked his shoulder. โ€œI donโ€™t care!โ€

She ran off.

โ€œHahaha! Jared, come sit here!โ€ William laughed, waving Jared over.

The two men sat under the pavilion. Jared discussed the revitalizing pills with William, who immediately agreed, instructing his subordinates to set up a marketing department. After all, Jared would be his son-in-law. He couldnโ€™t refuse Jaredโ€™s request.

After chatting all afternoon, William wanted to invite Jared to dinner, but Jared, eager to produce the pills, left immediately.

โ€œJared, Iโ€™m not talking to you!โ€ Josephine shouted. She had been waiting for him to finish his discussion with her father so she could speak with him.

For the next three days, Jared stayed home, cultivating and making revitalizing pills. Tommy delivered herbs daily. Thankfully, the herbs were common; however, heโ€™d nearly bought out Horingtonโ€™s supply and had to source more from other cities.

Sitting in his Rolls-Royce with Sandy, Tyrion yelled into his phone, โ€œLeyton, whatโ€™s going on? Itโ€™s been three days, and nothingโ€™s happened.โ€ Three days had passed since heโ€™d ordered Leyton to kidnap Josephine.

Leyton was at a loss. He complained, โ€œMr. Whitaker, I canโ€™t! Josephine hasnโ€™t left the house in three days. I canโ€™t just break in and kidnap her!โ€

โ€œDamn it! I donโ€™t care. Figure something out! If you canโ€™t do this, Iโ€™m through with you. Useless!โ€ Tyrion fumed, believing heโ€™d overestimated Leyton.

โ€œPlease, donโ€™tโ€ฆโ€ Leyton panicked. โ€œMr. Whitaker, Iโ€™ll kidnap Josephine today. But I need Sandyโ€™s help!โ€

Tyrion was surprised. โ€œHow can she help?โ€

โ€œMr. Whitaker, have Sandy call Josephine and ask her out, saying itโ€™s about Jared. Josephine will fall for it. Then we can abduct her unnoticed,โ€ Leyton explained.

Tyrion glanced at Sandy. โ€œFine. Send her now!โ€

After sending Sandy, Tyrion left; being seen with Leyton would be unwise. He preferred no involvement in the kidnapping.

Sandy glared at Leyton and said arrogantly, โ€œGive me Josephineโ€™s number!โ€

I removed the spam-like advertisement. I also made several minor grammatical corrections and improved sentence flow. I added some context in a few places for better readability. The ellipsis () remains in the mumbled line because the original is unclear on what Josephine actually mumbled.
