Chapter 295: Come At Me
Kane was taken aback by Tommy's tone. "You may be a mighty snake to these people," he said, "but you're nothing but a worm to me!" He slammed his palm on the table, shattering it.
Everyone's expression changed. Tommy, especially, frowned, surprised by Kane's power.
"I will find the man who crippled my son," Kane declared. "You have five minutes to hand him over, or die!" The room's temperature plummeted, sending a shiver down William's and the others' spines.
Tommy whispered to William, "I've contacted Mr. Chance, Mr. Sullivan. If he doesn't arrive before Kane acts, run. My men will cover youโthey're almost here."
William was exasperated. "Jared's coming here? It's a death sentence! Kane won't leave without killing someone!"
Tommy comforted him, confident in Jared's abilities.
Jared, mid-meal, received Tommy's message. His fury ignited.
Josephine sensed his bloodlust. "Jared, what's wrong?"
"I'm fine," he replied. "Enjoy your meal."
He stood, grabbed his coat, and instructed a servant, "Keep a close eye on her. Don't let her leave the house!"
"Understood, Mr. Jared," the servant replied.
Jared smiled at the servant's politeness. Though their relationship wasn't official, the Sullivan household treated him like Josephine's boyfriend. Perhaps they simply looked like a couple.
"I'll reward you upon my return," Jared said, patting the servant's shoulder before leaving.
Kane's voice cut through the air. "Time's up. Hand him over, or die?"
The Whitaker family experts assumed fighting stances, their killing intent palpable. They viewed Tommy's men as easily crushed insects.
William answered resolutely, "I won't hand him to you, Kane!"
"Very well," Kane said, his expression icy. "Kill them!"
The experts attacked Tommy and his men like ravenous tigers.
Then, Jared entered the room. "I'm the one who crippled your son. Come at me."
William looked concerned. "Jared"
Jared reassured him, "Relax, Mr. Sullivan. I'll be fine." He was grateful for William's willingness to risk his life.
Walter and Glen greeted Jared politely. "Mr. Chance."
Jared thanked them. "Thank you for helping, Mr. Lowe, Mr. Grange."
They responded awkwardly, "We didn't really help much. He showed us no respect."
Jared smiled warmly. "I'll handle this. It's late. You two should rest."
