Chapter 320: Bring His Head Back
โWhat?โ Alfred yelled, retreating hastily. It was too late. The recoil jolted through his body. His arm hung limply; it was clearly broken.
Bang! Bang! Bang!
Strange sounds ripped through the air as Alfred's clothes disintegrated.
โNo, this is impossible!โ
Fear filled his eyes. Before he could finish, he coughed up blood mixed with pieces of his organs.
Thump!
Alfred fell, lifeless, his eyes wide open. He died instantly, his organs shattered by the recoil.
The four experts trembled at the gruesome sight, paralyzed with fear. Alfred's death deeply shocked them; they felt the weight of it heavily.
Jared knelt beside him and violently twisted off Alfred's head. He tossed it to the four men. "Bring this back to Kane," he said icily. "Tell him I'll be in Summerbank one day to do the same to him."
The four men nodded fearfully, seizing the head and fleeing.
Jared turned to Zeke. "Let's go," he urged.
Zeke, utterly shocked and speechless, followed blankly. The scene had profoundly disturbed him; Jared's actions were incomprehensible.
Even at the food street, Zeke remained in a daze, his silence stark contrast to the cheerful atmosphere. The events of the evening had been a devastating shock.
After dinner, Jared locked himself in his room, working through the night to craft revitalizing pills. He was driven by a need to uncover his pastโhis mother's identity and the mystery surrounding the terrifying Dragon Island.
The next morning, after a quick breakfast, he resumed his work.
Meanwhile, at the Whitaker residence in Summerbank, the four men knelt, trembling before Kane. The sight of Alfred's head sent a wave of furious rage through him, causing him to spit out blood.
โMr. Whitaker!โ The four men rushed to his aid.
โKane, your boasting is pointless! The Jantz family could have handled this; now Alfred's dead!โ Lucyโs furious voice preceded her arrival. She'd rushed over upon hearing the news.
Seeing the blood on Kane's lips, she stopped abruptly, a look of anguish in her eyes. Despite their frequent arguments, she cared deeply for him.
โMrs. Whitaker,โ the men greeted her.
โWas Alfred killed by Jared?โ Lucy asked, glancing at the head.
โYes!โ one man replied.
โAnd he spared your lives to deliver this?โ she continued.
โYes. He said heโll come to Summerbank and do the same to Mr. Whitaker!โ The man trembled as he spoke.
โHow arrogant!โ Lucy punched the man, killing him instantly.
