Chapter 32: I Will Avenge You
Three men instantly dropped to their knees, trembling violently. They knew the Whitaker family's ruthlessness; they could easily be killed. But the family's true head wasn't Kaneโit was Lucy.
"Take care of Mr. Whitaker," Lucy commanded. "Leave the rest to me."
She gave Kane one last, fleeting glance before leaving. Outside, she called her brother, Wilbur. The Whitaker family was insufficient for revenge; she needed the Jantz family's help.
Wilbur arrived at the Whitaker residence immediately. Seeing Tyrion in bed, anger consumed him. "Lucy, who beat Tyrion? Why didn't you tell me?"
Tears streamed down Tyrion's face. "Uncle Wilbur, avenge me! Jared crippled me! I'll be crippled for life!"
Wilbur, only a few years older than Tyrion and his close friend since childhood, felt his heart ache at the sight of his distraught nephew. "Ty, don't worry. I'll avenge you."
"Uncle Wilbur," Tyrion added, "Josephine is to blame! Capture her so I can take revenge!" (Note: The website promotion has been removed.)
"No problem," Wilbur said, patting Tyrion's shoulder reassuringly.
But Lucy disagreed. "Willy, don't listen to him. Josephine is William Sullivan's daughterโHorington's richest man. Capturing her will cause a huge scandal. We only need to capture Jared."
Wilbur remained unmoved. "So what if he's the richest man? He should be honored Ty is interested in his daughter!" He questioned Tyrion further before leaving.
Lucy remained silent. Seeing my son like this, I should just let them be. This inaction, however, was precisely why the Whitaker family would be destroyed.
Back in Yeringham, Jared continued working on his revitalizing pills, oblivious to the Whitaker family's actions. Even if he knew, he wouldn't have cared.
He produced one hundred pills in twenty-four hours. Tommy guarded his room, while Josephine, bored, spent time with Frida and Yasmin.
"Josephine isn't back yet?" Jared asked Tommy, looking at the night sky.
"Mr. Chance, Ms. Sullivan called to say she'll be back after dinner. She's with the Shaw sisters," Tommy replied respectfully.
"I see." Jared nodded. It was natural for Josephine to socialize with old friends.
As Jared and Tommy prepared for dinner, the phone rang. It was Walter, which Jared found unusual. Walter rarely contacted him directly.
Walter's voice was frantic. "Mr. Chance, we're in deep trouble!"
Jared was startled. "Mr. Grange, what happened? Explain calmly."
"Lagrange Monastery is in trouble! Please come back!" Walter's fear was palpable.
"All right. I'm coming!" Jared hung up, his expression turning cold.
"Mr. Chance, what's wrong?" Tommy asked, noticing the change in Jared.
"Abbot Erasmus is in danger. I need to go back. Stay here with Josephine and protect her."
Jared returned to his room to pack.
