Chapter 323: Lunatic

"Abbot Erasmus died with his eyes open. I tried to close them, but I couldn't," Walter reported sadly, avoiding Erasmus's body.

Jared knelt and caressed Erasmus's face. "Abbot Erasmus, don't worry. I shall avenge you!" Erasmus's eyes snapped shut after Jared removed his hands.

Rising, Jared surveyed the hall. "Where is Abbot Erasmus's daughter, Renee?" he asked, seeing no other bodies.

Walter shook his head. Glen replied, "We don't know. We rushed here after receiving news, barricaded the scene, and ensured no one touched it."

Walter gritted his teeth. "I can't believe a lunatic killed everyone! Who could it be?"

Jared suspected someone, but lacked evidence.

"Don't worry, Mr. Grange. I've asked the Criminal Investigation Division for a thorough investigation. We'll find the culprit soon," Glen promised, his anguish evident.

"Mr. Lowe, stop the investigation. Ordinary humans won't find anything. Leave it to me!" Jared insisted, knowing it was someone with extraordinary abilities.

Glen, though stunned, quickly composed himself. "All right. I'll have the investigators withdraw."

A commotion erupted outside. Jared and the others rushed out to find Leonidas arguing with the investigators; his robe was soaked.

"Let him in!" Jared roared.

The investigators, though astounded, obeyed, given Glen's presence.

"Erasmus! Erasmusโ€ฆ" Leonidas wailed, rushing into the monastery.

Jared's heart ached at Leonidas's grief. Jared and Walter followed him inside, while Glen dismissed the others, warning them not to discuss the events.

Inside, Leonidas embraced Erasmus's body, weeping loudly. The others remained silent, offering no comfort.

After a long while, Leonidas set Erasmus down. A murderous glint appeared in his eyes as he clenched his jaw. "Dorieus, we are enemies from this day forward! I will not rest until I kill you!"

Jared's suspicion of Dorieus was confirmed. Dorieus had killed Falcon and stolen the Starry Compass; he wouldn't let this slide.

Jared hadn't anticipated Dorieus's ruthlessness in wiping out the entire monastery instead of seeking revenge directly.

"Abbot Leonidas, how did you know it was Dorieus?" Walter asked cautiously.

Leonidas gritted his teeth. "Diomedes told me. Otherwise, I wouldn't have arrived so quickly. After we killed Falcon, Diomedes convinced Dorieus to avenge his disciple by killing everyone at Lagrange Monastery. He then informed me of the massacre so I could deal with it."

Glen was astonished. "That's crazy! How could a monk do that?"
