Chapter 345: Wiped Out

Jared, a faint smile on his face, silently sipped his tea. Josephine returned to the table.

โ€œWhat are you two talking about?โ€ she asked.

โ€œOh! Nothing!โ€ Lizbeth replied hastily, clearly wanting to keep the conversation private.

โ€œJared, Mr. Grange asked for you. Iโ€™ll catch up with Lizbeth,โ€ Josephine said, patting his shoulder.

โ€œAll right,โ€ Jared nodded, heading toward Walter.

Walter was seated with a middle-aged man. Upon Jared's arrival, Walter introduced him. โ€œMr. Chance, this is General Anthony Long, Department of Justice, Summerbank.โ€

โ€œGeneral Long,โ€ Jared greeted respectfully.

Anthony nodded curtly and gestured for Jared to sit.

โ€œMr. Chance, General Long has been inquiring about you. Heโ€™s very impressed,โ€ Walter said as Jared sat.

Jared chuckled coldly. โ€œYou didnโ€™t need to go to all this trouble if you wanted to arrest me. Such a waste of money!โ€

Walter and Anthony were both perplexed, though for different reasons.

โ€œWhat are you talking about, Mr. Chance?โ€ Walter asked.

โ€œI wiped out the Whitaker family. Theyโ€™re here for me,โ€ Jared said nonchalantly.

โ€œYou eliminated the Whitaker family?โ€ Anthony asked coldly.

โ€œYes. And please let me know if any are still alive. Iโ€™ll kill them all,โ€ Jared stated openly.

Anthony declared, โ€œMy jobโ€™s done. Confession made; youโ€™ll accompany me back to Summerbank after dinner.โ€ He then projected a powerful aura, befitting his position.

Jared scoffed. โ€œDo you think you can do that with your few men?โ€ He shivered slightly, unleashing a wave of murderous energy that instantly dissipated Anthonyโ€™s aura. Anthony could only stare in astonishment.

Walter, finally understanding, intervened. โ€œIf youโ€™re here for Mr. Chance, General Long, I suggest you leave. You canโ€™t apprehend him. Besides, the Whitakers got what they deserved.โ€

Anthony looked at Walter in bewilderment. As Walterโ€™s former mentor, and the source of Lizbeth's position, Anthony dared not disrespect him.

Walter explained Josephineโ€™s kidnapping and Kaneโ€™s attempt on Jared's life in Horington. He omitted the events in Yeringham, lacking knowledge of Jared's actions there.

Silence fell, heavy with awkwardness. Meanwhile, Lizbeth and Josephine chatted happily.

โ€œJosephine, how long have you known Jared?โ€ Lizbeth asked.

Josephine paused. โ€œAbout two months.โ€

Lizbeth grew anxious. โ€œTwo months? Youโ€™re in a relationship? Do you really know him? Who is he?โ€
