Chapter 346: A Faraway Place

Seeing Lizbeth's sudden emotional outburst, Josephine asked, puzzled, "What's wrong? Jared is wonderful! I know him well; I've even met his parents."

"What do you know about him? Do you know he's a murderer? He wiped out the Whitaker family! He's ruthless!" Lizbeth blurted, unable to contain herself. Immediate regret followed; this was not information Josephine should have.

She expected shock, but Josephine remained calm. She even nodded and admitted, "I know. He only did that because of me!"

"Because of you?" Lizbeth's astonishment was evident.

Josephine recounted her experiences, including the incident at Yeringham. "How despicable that Tyrion Whitaker was! Death was a fitting end for him!"

Hearing the story, Lizbeth slammed her fist on the table in fury.

"Lizbeth don't tell me you came to Horington to arrest Jared?" Josephine realized, her tone sharp.

Lizbeth hesitated, speechless.

"Lizbeth, if you're here to arrest him, don't blame me for ending our friendship. Besides, he saved Mr. Grange, so you can't repay his kindness with enmity!" Josephine's expression hardened.

"What? He saved Grandpa's life?" Lizbeth exclaimed. "I never knew that!"

"Of course! Ask Mr. Grange if you don't believe me. I don't know the specifics," Josephine replied, admitting she'd only heard Jared mention it in passing.

Lizbeth's emotions warred. If he'd saved her grandfather, how could she act against him? She stood and approached Walter, Josephine following.

Their arrival eased the tension between Jared and the others.

"Why are you both here, Lizbeth?" Walter asked.

"Grandpa, is it true Jared saved your life?" Lizbeth asked directly.

"Absolutely! Mr. Chance saved me, Mr. Lowe, and hundreds of thousands of Horington's citizens!" Walter explained, referring to Jared's role in freeing Glen from the control of several businessmen.

Anthony was shocked. "Mr. Grange, are you exaggerating? He saved hundreds of thousands?"

"Let Mr. Lowe tell you," Walter said, summoning Glen.

Glen recounted the events, leaving Anthony and Lizbeth stunned. Such a story was unbelievable without firsthand knowledge, but they believed Glen.

After a long silence, Anthony sighed. "Mr. Grange, even if we don't arrest Jared, the Jantz family won't let him go. Everyone related to him will be dragged into it. Zachariah Jantz vowed to kill Jared's entire family."

Silence descended. The powerful Jantz family of Summerbank, and their Grandmaster patriarch, were infamous. Zachariah's vow meant serious trouble.

"Then we must leave! We'll go somewhere far away, where the Jantz family can't find us!" Josephine worried.
