Chapter 386: Scuffle
The Jantz family was about to escape when Luke arrived with his men, surrounding them.
โZachariah, don't even think about leaving!โ Luke spat.
โLuke, what are you doing? The Jantz and Wagner families have no quarrel. Why are you stopping me?โ Zachariah asked, exasperated.
โZachariah, you killed Bane in cold blood. Do you think you can escape so easily?โ Luke said coldly.
โYouโฆโ Zachariah pointed at Luke, fury boiling within him. He knew, however, that he was no match for Luke in his current state.
โZachariah, your time is upโฆโ
Phoenix, dragging her injured body, led her men to encircle the Jantz family.
Leonardo approached Zachariah. โMr. Jantz, leave now. I'll hold them off.โ
โLeonardo, be careful!โ Zachariah warned.
Leonardo nodded, roared, โCharge!โ and the Jantz family, escorted by two elites, charged the enemy.
โPhoenix Regiment, listen! No one leaves alive! Kill them all!โ Phoenix's voice, though sharp, betrayed her injury.
โYes, Madam!โ
The Phoenix Regiment attacked, met by the Jantz family.
โThe Wagner family will assist,โ Luke announced, sending his men into the fray. He then moved to confront Zachariah and his two protectors.
The battle quickly escalated. Desperate cries and bloodshed filled the air. Other families watched from a distance, unwilling to become involved.
Outside, Lizbeth turned to Anthony, alerted by the commotion.
โGeneral Long, we shouldโโ
Anthony cut her off. โWe are responsible for the border. We shouldn't interfere. It seems Summerbank is about to undergo a drastic changeโฆโ
Lizbeth remained silent, her anxiety evident. She worried about Jared and Josephine's safety.
Inside, the battle raged for over ten minutes. The Jantz family, facing the combined forces of the Phoenix Regiment and the Wagner family, teetered on the brink of annihilation. Zachariah, furious, surveyed the corpses, helpless; his martial energy, absorbed by Jared, hadn't recovered.
Then, Jared returned, dragging a terrified Venicus. Seeing the carnage, Jared understood the situation and threw Venicus at Zachariah's feet.
Zachariah, seeing the defeated Venicus, knew escape was impossible. His last resort was useless.
โStill thinking of running away?โ Jared asked, staring at the broken Venicus.
โNo! Spare my life! I'll follow your commands! I'll give you this thousand-year-old ginseng!โ Venicus begged.
Jared sneered. โWhat makes you think you deserve to be my follower? The ginseng will be mine after I kill you. Why should I let you live? Youโve likely harmed countless lives with your magecraft.โ
Jared raised his hand, prepared to strike.
