Chapter 71: Supreme VIP
"Please have a seat, sir. I'll get the manager immediately!" The staff's attitude toward Jared did a complete 180 when he glimpsed the bank card in his hand.
"Okay," Jared nodded, seating himself as the staff hurried to find the manager.
Delilah was bewildered. She couldn't understand the bank staff's sudden deference toward Jared.
"Do you really have ten million, Jared?" she asked skeptically, after witnessing the change.
"What's that to you?" Jared sneered.
"Jared, forging a bank card is a crime! How could you possibly have ten million, an ex-convict? Don't think I'm unaware your family still lives in that old neighborhood, and your father sweeps streets! How could you have ten million?"
Delilah, of course, didn't believe him. If he had that much money, would he still be living in such a poor neighborhood? And he'd only recently been released from prisonโhe couldn't have made ten million in a few days! He must be trying to impress me.
Other customers overheard her and looked curiously at Jared. These days, all cash withdrawals were made via bank card; a simple check revealed the balance. No one would be foolish enough to forge a card, would they?
Shortly after, the staff returned with a middle-aged man in glasses, who appeared hurried.
"Hello, sir. I'm the bank manager. How can I help you?" he politely inquired, approaching Jared.
"I'd like to withdraw 1.3 million, but I don't have an appointment. Is that possible?" Jared asked, handing the manager his card.
The manager's expression shifted slightly. "Certainly, sir. You don't need an appointment. However, we don't have that much cash on hand. I'll have some transferred from other branches. Please wait in my office."
Jared nodded and went to the office.
Delilah, dumbfounded, stepped in front of the manager, screeching, "What's wrong with this bank? He can withdraw money without an appointment? He's an ex-convict, and you didn't even check his balance? I want to withdraw a million now!"
She turned to her boyfriend. "Let's withdraw a million, darling!"
Brayden strode over, eyeing Jared. He produced a bank card. "There's ten million on this card, and I want to withdraw a million." [The promotional sentence has been removed as it is out of place and disruptive.]
The manager didn't even look at the card. "I'm sorry, that's not possible without an appointment."
Delilah was furious. Double standards! Jared could withdraw without an appointment, but they couldn't, even with ten million in their account!
"What kind of bank is this? I'm complaining! He doesn't need an appointment, but we do? We have ten million!" she roared.
"This gentleman is a supreme VIP client; he doesn't need an appointment. You are ordinary clients. There's no comparison," the manager explained dismissively.
Delilah was incandescent. "He's a supreme VIP? He's an ex-convict just released from prison!"
