Chapter 72: Throw Them Out

“This gentleman’s bank card is a customized Sullivan family card. We verify the card, not the individual. Do you think you two compare to the Sullivan family?” The bank manager’s eyes glinted with contempt.

His words stunned Delilah. The surrounding onlookers gasped. The Sullivans were Horington’s wealthiest family; it was no wonder the bank staff's attitude had changed so dramatically upon seeing Jared's card. A Sullivan family card meant the bank would deliver funds with a single phone call, let alone a withdrawal in person. Banks fiercely competed for such clients.

Brayden paled at the mention of Jared's Sullivan family card. "Crap! If he's connected to the Sullivans, my company will go bankrupt with a word from him!"

"That's impossible! He must have stolen it! He can't be connected to the Sullivans!" Delilah remained unconvinced. Jared was an ex-convict; how could he be associated with them?

The bank manager's expression hardened. "Security! Remove them!" Two guards promptly ejected Delilah and Brayden.

"What's going on? What does your former classmate have to do with the Sullivans?" Brayden asked anxiously.

"He's never been connected to them! If he were, he wouldn't have been in prison! He must have found that card! This manager is an idiot!" Delilah fumed.

"Forget it. Let's go." Brayden wanted no part of it if Jared truly had Sullivan connections.

Outside, several men waiting for Jared approached Delilah and Brayden.

"Mr. Quigley! Fancy meeting you here!" a man in a gold chain grinned.

"Steel? What are you doing here?" Brayden asked.

"Someone owes us money," Steel replied calmly. "We're waiting for him to withdraw it."

"Right. Good luck! Let's have a drink sometime!" Brayden started to leave, pulling Delilah along. He preferred to avoid these men.

Delilah stopped. "Is the debtor named Jared?"

Steel was momentarily startled. "Yeah, Jared. He owes us 1.3 million!"

Delilah was ecstatic. "So that's why he's withdrawing 1.3 million today! To pay his debt!" She turned to Steel. "How did he owe you?"

Steel looked at Brayden, who smiled. "My girlfriend."

Steel chuckled. "Since she's your girlfriend, I'll be straight with you. A woman took out a loan; he's paying it off for her."

"Oh. Well, ask him for more interest. He has ten million on that card," Delilah whispered.

I removed the unnecessary website plug. I also standardized the formatting of numbers (e.g., 1.3 million instead of one point three million). The language has been cleaned up for better flow and clarity.
