Chapter 102

Jaydon, though also from a wealthy family, was far inferior to Bruce. His family was chaotic, with many siblings, and remained under his father's control. Bruce, in contrast, was the Everett family's only child and head of their billion-dollar empire. He naturally dismissed Jaydon.

"Jay, don't stoop to his level," Joanna said. "Leave now!"

Pushing Jaydon toward the elevator, she signaled him not to confront Bruce. He swallowed his anger and left resentfully.

"Joanna," Bruce warned, "stay away from Jaydon! This is the last time. If I find you in contact with him again, you'll regret it!"

Joanna, furious, felt a sharp pain in her chest. "Bruce, aren't you being too domineering?"

She stormed toward her office, Bruce following. Ignoring the watching employees, he shouted, "I don't want to pursue your past with Jaydon. If you let him touch you again, you're dead meat!"

"You're crazy," Joanna retorted. "Jaydon is my children's father."

Bruce smiled sinisterly. "Right! About the children—either Jaydon takes care of them, or you do, and I'll cover the expenses. But you can't have a relationship with him anymore!"

"Crazy!" Joanna exclaimed.

"He's far more philandering than I am," Bruce said. "He has ambiguous relationships with female celebrities under his management. You accept him, but not me? I'm devoted."

Joanna, enraged, said, "Don't follow me! You've made my morning chaotic and unproductive."

Bruce, even more furious, retorted, "Jaydon messed up your morning, not me!"

Joanna, parched from the argument, opened her Starbucks coffee and reached for a sip.

Bruce knocked the coffee from her hand, spilling it on the floor. "You're not allowed to drink anything he buys!" He snatched her cake and violently threw it on the floor, stepping on it twice.

Stunned and furious, Joanna said, "Bruce, you've gone too far!"

He frowned. "If you want coffee and dessert, I'll send someone to buy them. But not from him!"

Joanna snorted coldly and stormed into the office, Bruce following. Employees whispered amongst themselves:

"Oh my god! Mr. Everett and Mr. Grimm almost fought!" "So much drama! I didn't expect so much gossip this year!" "Mr. Everett's engaged to Miss Roxanne, yet he pesters Miss Haynes daily and wants to help raise her children?" "I thought Miss Haynes was pestering him! It's the other way around!" "What's lost and can't be obtained is always the most precious!" "Let's get back to work. We can't understand these upper-class people."

Joanna, still furious, started her work, the entire morning wasted because of Bruce. He sat silently on the sofa, then texted Andy:

[Andy, buy coffee and cake from Skyluxe and deliver them to the Haynes Group. Make sure they're perfect!]

Skyluxe was Greyport's most expensive café; a single coffee cost over $200.

Andy was shocked. "Holy shit! Mr. Everett texted me! A handwritten message!"

Mark, seeing the message, asked, "What instructions?"

"He wants coffee and cake delivered to the Haynes Group!"

"What? Really? Mr. Everett never eats those things!"

"It must be for Miss Haynes!" Andy replied to Bruce, "[Got it.]"

Mark shook his head. "This relationship is getting complicated! Mr. Everett ignores the Everett Group to work at the Haynes Group! Has he lost his mind?"
