Chapter 103

"Let's not talk about it anymore," Andy said. "I need to quickly buy coffee and cake! If I'm late, Mr. Everett will get angry again."

"Well, you should go quickly then," Mark replied.

Andy said nothing more. He hurriedly grabbed his car keys and left the Everett Group.

Half an hour later, Andy arrived at the Haynes Group, panting and carrying the coffee and cake.

"Andy, why are you here?" Cora asked, surprised to see him running so fast.

Andy said breathlessly, "Um, Mr. Everett asked me to buy coffee and cake and bring them here. Where is Mr. Everett?"

"Oh, Mr. Everett is in Miss Haynes's office," Cora replied.

"I'll send the things to Mr. Everett first!" Andy said, hurrying toward the office.

He knocked loudly on the door.

Bruce heard the knock and opened it.

Seeing Bruce, Andy was shocked. He quickly handed him the bag. "Mr. Everett, coffee and cake from Skyluxe," he said.

"Okay," Bruce replied, taking the bag and slamming the door shut.

Joanna ignored Bruce and continued working.

Bruce sneered inwardly, thinking, "What's the point of working so hard? Even if you work yourself to death, you won't make much money. You might as well cozy up to me! It's a pity this stubborn woman is bringing trouble on herself!"

Bruce placed the bag on the desk, his expression tense. "This is for you!" he said.

Joanna gave him a skeptical glance. "What is this?" she asked.

"Coffee and cake!" Bruce said. "From now on, you'll only eat food I buy!" He sat on the corner of the desk.

"You're crazy!" Joanna muttered, continuing to work, ignoring the food.

After a while, seeing she hadn't touched it, Bruce angrily touched her chin and unpacked the coffee and cake, placing them in front of her. "Stop being stubborn!" he said. "Hurry up and drink it, or it will get cold."

He clearly wanted to please her, but sounded rude.

"I'm not eating," Joanna said. "Move it aside!"

Bruce was speechless and looked displeased.

"Alright, alright," Bruce said. "Fine. I'll throw it away!"

He angrily picked up the coffee and cake, intending to throw them away.

Joanna choked in anger. "Hey, these were bought with money!" she exclaimed. "Even if I don't eat them, you can give them to someone else!"

"If you don't eat it, why give it to someone else?" Bruce retorted.

Joanna gritted her teeth. "Forget it," she said. "Just leave it there!"

"You should have said so earlier!" Bruce grumbled.

Joanna took a sip of coffee.

Bruce smirked, sat on the sofa, and pretended to read the newspaper.

Joanna rolled her eyes at him and returned to work, thinking, "This possessive and domineering man is infuriating!"

At the Haynes' house, Roxanne lay listlessly on the sofa all day.

Ingrid, massaging her face with a beauty device, asked, "Roxy, why didn't you go out today?"

Roxanne replied casually, "I'm not in the mood."

"Weren't you with Bruce yesterday?" Ingrid asked. "Where did you guys go?"

Roxanne felt fretful. "Mom, stop asking!" she said.

Sensing her daughter's distress, Ingrid stopped. "What's going on? Tell me!"

"Mom, you're annoying," Roxanne said. "Leave me alone."

Ingrid sat next to Roxanne. "Roxy, we can't let anything go wrong now! Did you have a conflict with Bruce? Call him and clarify things!"

Roxanne said impatiently, "He's busy! He's not free!"

"No matter how busy he is, you can still accompany him!" Ingrid insisted. "He can't be busy twenty-four hours a day!"

Roxanne said, "I waited all afternoon at the company yesterday, but in the end"

"What happened?" Ingrid asked.

"He didn't even speak to me," Roxanne said. "He immediately sent me home."

Ingrid widened her eyes. "Sent you home? Then where did you go last night?"

Roxanne realized she'd made a mistake. "I, um, I didn't go anywhere!" she said.

Ingrid raised her voice. "Roxy, you didn't go see that poor guy, did you?"

"I didn't!" Roxanne said, avoiding eye contact.

"You didn't, huh?" Ingrid said. "If you didn't, why are you avoiding eye contact? This kind of man is trouble. Once you're involved, it's hard to get rid of him! Call Mr. Everett now!"

"I'm not going to call!" Roxanne said.

"Hurry up!" Ingrid urged. "This is your chance to improve things with him while Margaret is ill! Don't give him the silent treatment. Be accommodating. We can't let anything go wrong with the marriage."

Roxanne reluctantly called Bruce.

His phone rang.
