Chapter 134

Roxanne thought it was Gavin. She pushed the men away, dazed. "No. I'm sleepy."

"The chick's waking up," Kurt muttered, whispering, "Get me an eye mask." He then unbuttoned his pants and lay on top of her.

Roxanne, sleeping soundly, suddenly felt a weight on her body. She muttered impatiently, "Argh! I already said no! Stop touching me! It hurts!"

Kurt's excitement grew at her words. The other four men, equally aroused, also touched her. Seeing such a stunning woman in the slums was unusual; however, to the local thugs, it was commonplace. None of the girls dared to call the police, much less resist, emboldening these men.

They didn't know Roxanne's identity, assuming she was a city hostess who'd come to the slums to sleep with a poor man like Gavin. Little did they know she was a wealthy young lady.

Dazed, Roxanne sensed something was wrong. It didn't feel like Gavin, and there was more than one person. Shocked, she sobered up and opened her eyes. The man touching her was unfamiliar—fat, strong, with a despicable expression, a facial scar, and a beer belly the size of a pregnant woman's. Several other men, looking like thugs, surrounded him.

"Yes! Yes!" one of them exclaimed.

"Who are you? What are you doing?" Roxanne demanded.

Kurt, panting and elated, said, "Girl, your boyfriend owes us money. He agreed to let us have fun with you!"

Bewildered, Roxanne struggled. "What are you talking about? Let me go!" But the thugs held her down. One covered her eyes with the eye mask.

"No—"

"Help! Gavin! Help—"

Roxanne fought desperately, but escape was impossible.

"Help! Gavin! Anyone—"

Gavin, hearing her screams, closed his eyes in pain. He wanted to break free and save her, but he couldn't defeat them alone. He dared not call for help or the police; Kurt and the others would seek revenge on his family upon release from prison.

Soon, Kurt finished. He pulled up his pants and prepared to leave. "You guys, go ahead and have fun! But go easy on her!"

Kurt left, another thug immediately pouncing on her. The torture lasted two hours. Roxanne was a helpless doll, fiercely resisting at first, then succumbing to numb helplessness. Tears soaked her eye mask; her throat was too sore to cry out. Gavin despaired, closing his eyes in pain, silently praying for it to end.

He wouldn't mind her being violated if she'd marry him; this might be his only chance. It was cruel, but perhaps the only way for him after Roxanne was ruined; otherwise, with his background, she would never marry him.

It was three in the morning. Bruce felt something was wrong. He called Andy.

"Hey, Andy!"

Andy's sleepy voice answered, "Mr. Everett, what are your instructions?"

"Check Roxy's phone's GPS. See where she is."

"Right away!" Andy quickly investigated.

Five minutes later, Roxanne's location was found and sent to Bruce. The address indicated a slum, the dirtiest place in Greyport.

"It's so late. Why is Roxy there?" Bruce's heart sank. He rushed to the address with his men.

Half an hour later, Bruce arrived at Gavin's house, but Roxanne was already violated.

Chapter 134

"Roxy…"

Roxanne lay naked on the bed, expressionless. The four thugs were shocked by the arrival of the men in black.

"Who are you? Why are you here? This is Kurt's territory…" a thug shouted.

Bruce's bodyguards subdued the four thugs. Bruce sucked in a breath of cold air, almost disbelieving what he saw. His worst fear had happened, far crueler than he'd imagined. The thugs were dragged out.

"Roxy…" Bruce reacted, covering her with his clothes. "Roxy, I'm sorry!" He hugged her tightly, heartbroken and guilty.

Roxanne stared at Bruce with empty eyes, then fainted. Andy stood dazed. He thought of the shocking news that would rock Greyport: "Mr. Everett's fiancée has been…"

"Mr. Everett, should we call the police?"

Bruce's temples throbbed. "No need. Deal with them!"

"Yes!" Andy instructed his men.

The thugs realized they'd provoked someone powerful. They hadn't expected she was Bruce's fiancée; Bruce would kill them. Andy ordered the bodyguards to take them away. The news would be released the next day.

Bruce rushed Roxanne to the hospital, filled with guilt and remorse. Even if he no longer loved Roxanne, he didn't want this to happen to her. She was so weak and innocent. He could have prevented it. He’d seen her drunk at the bar, but he'd ignored it after Joanna said it couldn't be her. If he'd checked, this tragedy wouldn't have occurred.

Chapter 134

Twenty minutes later, Roxanne was in a private hospital. She suffered grave injuries, severe soft tissue damage, heavy bleeding, and dehydration.

Ingrid and Shaun Haynes arrived early the next morning. Ingrid's high heels clicked loudly; Shaun panted behind her. "Roxy! Roxy, what happened to you?"

Bruce didn't know what to say, sitting with his head down, filled with regret and guilt. Ingrid grew anxious. "What happened to Roxy?"

Andy said, "Ms. Haynes… she was attacked."

BOOM! Ingrid felt a lightning strike. She squatted, losing strength in her legs.

"Attacked?" She couldn't accept it. Turning to Bruce, she shook his thigh frantically. "Wasn't Roxy with you? How could she be attacked?"

Bruce choked, closing his eyes in heartache.

"Heavens! My Roxy! How could this happen!" Ingrid cried, pounding her chest. Roxanne was ruined; her marriage to Bruce was shattered.

Shaun had a heart attack upon hearing the news. Andy quickly supported him. "Doctor! Quickly!" Shaun was rushed to the emergency room.

Bruce felt even more guilty. He hated himself for humiliating Roxanne, causing her sadness and leading her to drink. His carelessness had cost him the chance to save her.

"Roxy! Hubby!" Ingrid cried, unsure whether to worry about her husband or daughter.
