Chapter 219

"That damn woman! Why the hell is she still at Mossbourne while she's pregnant?" Bruce cursed, his face contorted with anger. The phone continued to ring, but Joanna refused to answer.

Meanwhile, Joanna was undergoing a checkup. All the tests met surgical standards, and she was preparing for the procedure.

Beep, beep, beep!

Bruce made three calls, but Joanna remained unresponsive. "Why the hell isn't she answering her damn phone?"

Luna observed Bruce carefully. "Mr. Everett, Cora accompanied Miss Haynes to Mossbourne. If you're in a hurry, call Cora!"

Bruce's brow furrowed in anger. Unable to reach Joanna, he called Cora.

Beep, beep, beep!

Cora answered promptly. "Hello, Mr. Everett!"

Bruce's voice was cold. "Cora, are you with Joanna?"

"Yes," Cora replied.

"What's she doing? Why isn't she answering her phone?" Bruce's tone was aggressive.

Taken aback, Cora stammered, "Uh well"

"Tell me now!" Bruce demanded.

"Miss Haynes is in the hospital!"

Bruce raised an eyebrow. "What's she doing in the hospital?"

"She's preparing for a procedure," Cora admitted.

"What kind of procedure?"

"An abortion!"

Bruce was incredulous. "What did you say? Say it again!"

"She's planning to have an abortion."

His anger exploded. That woman! For such a significant matter, she'd proceeded without discussing it with him. Regardless of whether she wanted the child, he was the father! She should have consulted him. Even if she didn't want the child, she should have sought his consent. Now, she was going to terminate his child without considering him.

"Has the procedure been done?"

"Not yet, she's next!"

Bruce took a deep breath. "Stop her immediately! No matter what, don't let her proceed. I'll be right there! Send me the address!"

"Okay, understood! Sure, got it!" Cora quickly sent the address.

After hanging up, Bruce seethed. "Joanna Haynes, you damn woman, you're really pushing me over the edge! How dare you!"

He left Haynes Group and drove to Porash Hospital. Joanna had completed her examinations. She was third in line at the maternity and child health center. Soon, the previous procedure ended.

The nurse called, "Next, Joanna Haynes!"

Joanna stood up, but Cora rushed in and stopped her. "Miss Haynes!"

"What's the matter?" Joanna asked.

Cora, concerned, stammered, "Are you having second thoughts?"

"No need to think twice!" Joanna checked her watch. It was already 10:30. The earlier the procedure, the quicker the recovery. She needed to pick up Jaydon later.

Cora anxiously scratched her ears. "No, no. This is a human life. You really need to think it through!"

Joanna glanced at Cora indifferently. "No need to think about it! The company is in chaos. I can't be distracted! I know what I'm doing."

The nurse shouted, "Where's Joanna Haynes?"

"Right here," Joanna replied.

"No, Miss Haynes, please reconsider!" Cora blocked her path.

"What's gotten into you, Cora?"

Cora urged, "A child's life is at stake. We have to consider it carefully! It's probably best to discuss it with Mr. Everett. He's the father!"

Joanna's face fell. "What's there to discuss with him? He probably can't wait to get rid of this child!" She headed towards the operating theater.

"Miss Haynes, I implore you to think again!" Cora grasped her sleeve. She'd been instructed by Mr. Everett to stop Joanna.

"What's wrong with you?"

"I-I'm just afraid you'll regret it later!"

Joanna's impatience grew. "Don't worry! I won't regret it!"

"Think it through! You can do it another day!"

"What's going on?" Joanna's expression turned frigid.

Cora cautiously said, "Um Mr. Everett just called!"

Joanna was dazed.

"Mr. Everett said that no matter what, I have to stop you!"

Joanna walked towards the operating room. "Cora, don't get involved! This is my own decision."

Cora appeared helpless. She was just an employee.

Joanna shook off Cora's grip and resolutely walked toward the operating room. She would not bring this child into the world. Regardless of Bruce's agreement, she had to terminate the pregnancy.

The nurse took Joanna's file. "Are you Joanna Haynes?"

"Yes," Joanna confirmed.

"Take off your pants and lie down," the nurse instructed.

Joanna complied. The operating room was chilly.

"Doctor, how long will this surgery take?" Joanna asked.

"It'll be quick, less than half an hour," the doctor reassured her.

As the nurse prepared the anesthesia, the doctor began disinfecting. Suddenly, chaos erupted.

"Make way! Clear the path!" An urgent voice shouted.

"This is the operating room! You can't come in!" the nurse commanded.

"Move aside!" the voice insisted.

"Someone, call the police!" someone exclaimed.

Bodyguards forced their way in, shoving the nurse aside. Bruce entered, radiating anger.

Joanna was shocked. She covered her body. "Bruce, why are you here?"

"Joanna, what are you up to?" Bruce's face contorted with rage.

"My actions have nothing to do with you!" Joanna retorted.

Bruce lunged toward the operating table, lifting Joanna off it.

"What are you doing? Are you out of your mind?" Joanna protested.

"Do you dare to secretly try to abort my child?" Bruce accused. "Who gave you the right? Who agreed?"

Joanna seethed, tears welling up. "Bruce, I've already told you that the child has nothing to do with you!"

"Don't lie to me!" Bruce snapped back. "What do you think you're doing? Let go!"

"Come back with me! This is my child, and without my consent, you won't be able to take my child's life!" Bruce declared firmly.
