Chapter 220

"Come back with me," Bruce said, forcibly lifting her from the operating table and carrying her out.

Joanna's face was filled with panic. She struggled violently in his arms. "Let go of me, Bruce! Must you be so domineering?"

Bruce ignored her, his grip tightening around her like steel pincers, rendering her powerless.

In the hospital corridor, several security guards approached, brandishing batons. A nurse pointed at Bruce, her voice trembling. "He's causing trouble! Stop him!"

"What the hell are you doing? Who are you?" The security captain pointed his baton at Bruce, his posture authoritative.

Bruce ignored him and continued walking. His inherent aura of power suggested he was not to be trifled with.

The security captain quickly stepped aside, unwilling to impede him. Andy and Kody calmly intervened. "It's a misunderstanding! We're just looking for someone!"

Observing Bruce's numerous bodyguards and the lack of any injuries, the security captain allowed them to leave without further intervention.

Bruce carried Joanna and confidently strode out of the hospital, attracting everyone's attention.

"Oh my god, he looks just like Bruce Everett, the wealthiest man in Greyport!"

"How is that possible? Why would he be at Mossbourne Hospital?"

"But he really does look like him!"

Porash's proximity to Greyport meant its residents were familiar with Bruce. Nurses and patients alike chased after them, eager to witness the unfolding drama.

At the hospital entrance, Bruce forcefully pushed Joanna into the passenger seat of his car. Without waiting for his driver and bodyguards, he took the wheel.

Vroom! He slammed the accelerator. The powerful engine roared, propelling them forward.

Chapter 220

"Bruce, are you out of your mind?" Joanna dreaded being in his car. Despite her seatbelt, she gripped the overhead handle. Bruce, she thought, had a severe case of road rage; when he was angry, accidents were likely. "Bruce, this is Mossbourne! You have to obey the traffic laws!"

Bruce slammed the steering wheel. "Am I supposed to care about courtesy?"

The sports car was speeding; even a slight deviation of the steering wheel could cause it to swerve out of its lane. With Bruce's abrupt movement, the car's left front wheel lifted briefly, narrowly avoiding a rollover. He then swerved right, the car jerking violently before stabilizing.

Joanna screamed, her face paling. She dared not anger him further, softening her tone. "I've already said this child has nothing to do with you." Bruce drove, his face contorted. Sᴇaʀ*ᴄh the ƒind ηøᴠel.nᴇt website on Gøøglᴇ to access chapters of novels early and in the highest quality.

Last night, he had scorned her unborn child, intending to pressure her into an abortion. Discovering she'd already gone to the hospital for the procedure, he'd been consumed by remorse, then anger.

"What do you want?" Joanna asked.

Bruce remained silent as the car sped up. Joanna, unable to match his outbursts, suppressed her anger.

One hour later, Bruce drove back to Greyport and took Joanna to Reagan No. 8 Residence. The car stopped on the lawn, and he forcibly pulled her out. A bodyguard quickly parked the car.

"Bruce, what are you planning?" Joanna asked.

He carried her into the house, leading her to a room and placing her on the bed.

"Joanna, you can't leave until I've made up my mind," he declared.

Joanna's eyes widened in shock. She leaped off the bed. "What do you think you're doing? Are you imprisoning me?"

"Do as you wish," Bruce said, turning and leaving the room.

Joanna tried to follow, but he slammed the door and locked it. Outside, several maids stood waiting.

"Keep a close watch on her. Make sure she doesn't leave," Bruce ordered. "And ensure her safety. She's pregnant."

"Yes, Mr. Everett!" they replied.

Ignoring Joanna's shouts, Bruce left. Outside the villa, over ten bodyguards and twenty servants stood solemnly. More maids had been hired a month ago, anticipating Joanna's arrival.

Inside, Joanna pounded on the door. "Bruce, you're insane! This is illegal detention, and I'll sue you!" Her phone had been confiscated.

On the lawn, Bruce chain-smoked. He regretted his actions but was determined she carry the child to term. Only he could decide its fate. He was impatient with her attempt to terminate the pregnancy.

"Bruce, let me out!" Joanna shouted.

Ms. Chain, a maid, advised, "Ma'am, please calm down. It's not good for the baby."

"Just let me out!"

"Ma'am, without Mr. Everett's instructions…" the maid insisted.

Joanna felt trapped, desperate. She pounded on the door, shouting for Bruce.

"Madam, if Mr. Everett wants to see you…" the servant said.

The constant use of "Madam" irritated Joanna. "Don't call me Madam. We're divorced!"

"Please calm down, Madam… Mr. Everett has left…"

Regardless of her protests, the servants refused to release her. Ms. Chain and Nancy hoped for a reconciliation.

At 8 p.m., Jaydon's plane landed. Beep beep beep! He immediately called Joanna; they'd agreed she'd pick him up. He couldn't find her and her calls went unanswered. He bombarded her with messages, but she didn't respond. He panicked and called Coco.

"Hello, Mr. Grimm…"

"Cora, where's Joanna? I've been calling her."

Cora sighed. "Mr. Grimm, Mr. Everett took her. I don't know where he took her."

Jaydon was devastated. Bruce Everett again! Something was terribly wrong. Bruce refused to let her go.

"Mr. Grimm, don't worry. Perhaps she'll answer tomorrow."

Jaydon sighed and ended the call. He knew searching would be futile for now. He'd witnessed Bruce's true nature.
