Bruce sneered. "I will get to the bottom of this! Whoever dares to hurt Joanna will have a problem with me. Those who have problems with me will face serious consequences!"

Roxanne staggered, nearly falling.

"Keep an eye on her! Until the truth is revealed, she is not allowed to leave Sherane Bay Villa or contact anyone. Take her phone!"

"Yes, Mr. Everett!" The bodyguard responded, seizing Roxanne's bag and removing her phone.

"Ms. Haynes, please return to your room."

Roxanne was terrified. "Bruce, I have to go home! I want to see my parents! Christmas is coming. You can't do this!"

"When I'm satisfied that you're not involved, I will release you. Until then, stay in your room. I hope Joanna is safe and that this has nothing to do with you!" Bruce said coldly, descending the stairs.

"Bruce! Bruce"

Two bodyguards seized Roxanne and dragged her back to her room, locking the door. Overwhelmed by fear and panic, Roxanne cried, "What should I do? Oh God, what should I do now?"

She frantically searched for a solution. Her main phone was gone, but thankfully she had a backup—a lipstick-shaped device concealing a hidden phone. She decided to contact Ingrid.

Ingrid's phone rang. Seeing an unknown number, she answered impatiently, "Hello, who is it?"

"Mom, it's me!" Roxanne's voice trembled.

"What now?"

"Someone hired a killer to kill Joanna! Did you know?"

Ingrid retorted impatiently, "Jesus! Why are you asking me again?"

Roxanne sniffled, her voice choked with sobs. "Mom, I I might be in big trouble!"

Ingrid was startled. "What are you talking about?"

Roxanne, terrified and fearing surveillance, cried uncontrollably, unable to fully explain.

Ingrid, anxious, urged, "What did you do? Tell me now!"

"Mom, I've been locked up in Sherane Bay Villa! Bruce has confined me!"

"What?" Ingrid looked around nervously.

"I'm locked in my room! I can't go anywhere!"

"Why?"

Roxanne sobbed, catching her breath between tears. Bruce suspected she hired someone to kill Joanna and might also discover her involvement in Margaret's death. She knew Bruce; if he learned the truth, he would likely banish her family from Greyport.

"Please stop crying, Roxy. What happened? Tell me!"

"I can't tell you over the phone, Mom. But remember to tell people you've been keeping my Richmoren bank card! I made two transfers—one million and two million dollars. If Bruce asks, use an excuse and cover it up!"

Ingrid's eyes widened, her heart pounding. This was serious.

"Come on, sweetie. What trouble are you in? You're worrying me sick!" Roxanne cried again. "Mom, please stop asking. I regret it so much! I can't explain it over the phone. I'll tell you everything when we meet."

Ingrid, worried, comforted Roxanne. "Okay! Are you alright?"

"Mom, I'm so scared, I don't know what to do."

"What exactly have you done?" Ingrid pressed.

"It's serious. If Bruce finds out, I'll be in jail for life!"

Ingrid's face turned pale. She suspected Roxanne had also hired a killer. What a foolish girl! Even if someone needed to be eliminated, Ingrid thought she should have done it.

"Mom, please get me out of here! I want to go home."

"Okay! Don't panic! Your father and I are coming to Sherane Bay Villa to get you!"

"Okay!" Roxanne hung up.

Ingrid was frantic, her face twitching from numerous cosmetic injections. "Joanna, you goddamn bitch! You've ruined our lives!"

Shaun, entering, heard her cursing. He frowned. "What happened? Why are you cursing Joanna again?"

Ingrid, furious, shouted, "Roxy called! Bruce has locked her up!"

Shaun was stunned. "What? Bruce has locked Roxy up? Why?"

"Because of that slut Joanna!"

"What does Joanna have to do with it?"

"You think I'm wrong? She's a scourge! Because of her, our lives are ruined! I wish she had incurable cancer and died a horrible death!"

Shaun was conflicted. He hated Joanna, but she was still his daughter.

"Listen to yourself! That's too cruel."

"Oh? Too cruel? If it weren't for her, Mr. Everett and Roxy wouldn't be in this mess! The Haynes family wouldn't be looked down upon!"

Shaun sighed. "I told you Bruce doesn't love Roxy. The best thing for her is to break up with him! But you and Roxy ignored me and got yourselves into this."

Ingrid exploded. "What's wrong with you? Your daughter is being bullied, and you're criticizing her? Are you insane?"

"Fine! You win."

"Come with me. We're going to Sherane Bay Villa to get Roxy back!"

"Alright!" Shaun replied, defeated.

They hurried to Sherane Bay Villa, arriving forty minutes later.
