Chapter 250
Bruce smiled mockingly. "Ingrid and her two cousins have always had an improper relationship! Now that her cousins have fled, it's obvious they have a guilty conscience. I've already frozen their bank accounts and sent people to investigate their whereabouts. I believe the truth will soon be revealed!"
Joanna was shocked. "No! Really? Are you saying Ingrid cuckolded Dad?"
"More than one! Ingrid knows how to have a good time. She's had affairs with many men."
"How do you know all this?"
"I had someone investigate."
Joanna gasped. The shock lingered. "Are you saying Ingrid hired the murderer?"
Bruce frowned slightly. "Highly likely. Ninety percent, at least. However, we still need witnesses. Although the murderer is dead, he received money before he died—money from Ingrid's cousin. Moreover, he had cancer. Finding the cousins will reveal the truth, and she'll go to prison."
Joanna frowned. "What about Roxanne?"
"Whether she knew or was involved, I'm done with her."
"Bruce, I don't want your relationship with Roxanne to break up because of me" Joanna looked at him seriously, despite hating Roxanne. She'd carried the burden of being blamed for seducing Bruce six years ago. Another breakup would likely bring more blame.
Bruce seemed to understand. He gently held her hand. "Joanna, even without you, Roxanne and I are finished. Don't feel pressured, or worry about what others think. I hope we can give each other a chance. Let's start over."
Joanna pulled her hand back. "Let's talk about this later." She lacked the courage to accept him so easily. Perhaps he'd change his mind.
Meanwhile, at the Haynes' house, Shaun returned home furious, dragging Ingrid with him. He immediately called her cousins, but their phones were switched off. Wallace and Oscar had fled to a small Southeast Alendor country.
Shaun demanded answers. "Why did you transfer so much money to them? What's your relationship with them?"
Ingrid, disheveled and tear-stained, sobbed, "I gambled it away!"
"I don't believe you! How many men have you had affairs with?"
"None! You have to believe me, hubby!"
Their child pleaded for them to stop arguing.
Shaun, enraged, yelled, "I'll kill you, you bitch! You've ruined my life! I gave you money, and you used it on other men!"
Ingrid fought back, yelling, "Yes, I slept with other men! You're useless! If you could satisfy me, I wouldn't have to!"
Shaun trembled with rage. "You shameless woman! I want a divorce! I'll get a lawyer!"
"Fine! I want half the assets!"
"In your dreams! It's all mine!"
Their argument raged. Terrified servants watched silently.
Roxanne, heartbroken, felt dead inside. She didn't even try to stop the fight; she was exhausted. She silently left the house.
Gavin's phone rang. It was Roxanne. "Gavin, I'm so sad. I need to see you." Roxanne wept. Dumped by Bruce, and facing her parents' divorce, she desperately needed comfort.
"Where are you? I'll come right away!"
