Chapter 249

Joanna was treated worse than a stranger.

"Joanna, why are you so stubborn? This is a family scandal. Why make it public? You're beautiful, have a career, and there are many good men. Why not let go of Bruce? As Roxy's father, I'll settle this today! You can't be with Bruce; he and Roxy are a couple. If you're stubborn, I won't acknowledge you as my daughter!"

"I don't want to say anything else. You can say whatever you want," Joanna replied.

Roxanne cried, her face tear-streaked. Though soft-spoken, her tone was threatening. "Joanna, please! Don't bother Bruce anymore. I can't take it! If you continue, I'll kill myself! If I die, you won't have it easy. I'll drag you and your children down with me. We'll die together!"

Joanna's heart sank. She looked at Roxanne coldly. "Roxanne, do you know what you're saying?"

Roxanne glared. "I don't care anymore. I've lost my mind! Without Bruce, I'd rather die! I'm not afraid of death, or dragging others down with me."

"Joanna Haynes, I'll expose you! Get up!" Ingrid lunged forward, pulling Joanna.

Shaun intervened, his head aching. "Stop it. Say what you need to say, don't be violent!"

"Stop and leave!" Ms. Chain and Nancy tried to intervene.

Ingrid shoved Ms. Chain. "Get out! This is family business. Don't interfere!"

"Roxy hasn't broken up with Mr. Everett. She's the future Mrs. Everett. Are you all blind?"

"Mrs. Haynes, please calm down…"

"Get out! This is our family matter. Why are you outsiders interfering?"

Ingrid aggressively pushed Ms. Chain and Nancy from the ward.

"Hubby, slap her! I'm going to tear off your pants and show everyone you're a slut!"

"Ingrid, don't go overboard!"

Outside the ward, Ms. Chain frantically called Bruce. His phone rang.

"Hello!"

"Mr. Everett, please come to the hospital quickly!"

Bruce, in a multinational conference call, was busy. "What's wrong?"

Ms. Chain said anxiously, "Mr. and Mrs. Haynes and Miss Roxanne are causing trouble in the ward! We can't stop them."

Bruce's heart sank. "I understand."

He ended the call, gave brief instructions to his managers, delegated the rest to his secretary, and rushed to the hospital.

Twenty minutes later, Bruce arrived at the ward.

"Mr. Everett, you're finally here! Mrs. Haynes is making a scene…"

Bruce entered with a cold expression. "What are you doing?"

Ingrid and Roxanne fell silent.

Shaun frowned. "Bruce, you're just in time. I need to talk to you. The night before yesterday, you set off fireworks for Joanna. What did that mean?"

"It meant what it meant," Bruce replied slowly.

"Then what is Roxy to you? She's pregnant with your child. Are you abandoning her?"

"Explain yourself!"

"There's nothing to explain. I broke up with Roxanne! I'm done with Roxanne Haynes!" Bruce said coldly and without hesitation. He was disgusted and didn't want to humor the Haynes family.

Roxanne was devastated. "Bruce, you can't treat me like this! How can you be so heartless? I'll die…"

Bruce remained unmoved. Her suicide threat was ineffective.

"Bruce, Roxy has been with you for years. She's pregnant. How can you let her die?"

Bruce's expression darkened. "I'll repeat: I've never slept with Roxanne Haynes! She used artificial insemination! I have no feelings for her! If she wants to keep the child, fine. I'll support it after birth. I'll get a lawyer involved!" He wouldn't be a fool again. He wouldn't pay more than the court ordered.

Roxanne had plotted against him. Had she not, he would have given her a large sum of money. But she had schemed against him, so he showed her no mercy.

Joanna was shocked at Bruce's heartlessness. "Bruce, no! What spell did my sister cast on you? I lost your love since she returned!"

"Let go!" Bruce pushed Roxanne away in disgust.

Roxanne cried, turning to Joanna. "Joanna, please! Let Bruce come back to me!" She knelt.

"Get up!"

"No! You can't do this to me!"

Ingrid was furious. "Mr. Everett, you're responsible for Roxy! If anything happens to her, I won't let you off!"

"Mrs. Haynes, not so fast! Roxanne is involved in a case. The police are investigating!"

Ingrid fell silent. Roxanne choked back sobs.

"Roxy, what's going on?"

"Bruce, believe me! I didn't spend that money!"

Ingrid quickly added, "Yes! I spent it! I kept Roxy's Richmoren bank card. You accused Roxy wrongly!"

"Is that so?" Bruce scoffed. "Here's your bank transfer record! Mrs. Haynes, you've done a lot of private transactions!" He tossed a document at Ingrid.

Ingrid paled. Shaun was shocked. "What is this?"

"Mr. Haynes, see for yourself!"

The document showed numerous transfers from two accounts—tens of thousands, even over 200,000 dollars—totaling over 2 million dollars!

Shaun was numb. "Oh my god, so much money! Who did you transfer it to?"

Bruce smiled. "Oscar and Wallace."

Shaun was furious. "Why did you secretly transfer this money?" He knew Ingrid was close to them, likely her toyboys.

"I… I lost it in poker!"

"Bullshit! It can't be over 2 million dollars!"

Ingrid stammered, "I… I really lost it in poker!"

"Explain yourself. Why gamble so much?"

"Mr. Haynes, this is your personal problem. Talk to your wife."

Shaun felt humiliated. He no longer cared about Roxanne.

"What's your relationship with them?"

"Nothing!"

"Did you use my money on your toyboys?"

"I didn't!"

"I'll call them. If you cheated, I'll break your legs!"

"Hubby, I really didn't!"

"Then why did you play poker and lose so much money?"

Roxanne pleaded, "Mom, Dad, stop arguing!"

Shaun grabbed Ingrid and stormed out, Roxanne following.

The ward was quiet. Joanna looked at Bruce, speechless. "Bruce…"

Bruce teased, "What's wrong with me?"

"Nothing," Joanna sighed. "Did you find something out?"

"Make a guess."

"I don't want to guess. Tell me!"
