Chapter 74

"That's right! Mr. Everett has been coming here every two or three days recently. In the past, he rarely visited—perhaps only once a year!"

"Hey, do you think Mr. Everett intends to remarry Miss Haynes?"

"That's hard to say. I heard Miss Haynes had triplets, not twins. Mr. Everett is probably the father!"

"Wow, if the children are Mr. Everett's, why is she still working so hard? She's financially secure!"

"Really? Aren't Miss Haynes' children Mr. Grimm's?"

"That's right, isn't Mr. Grimm Miss Haynes' boyfriend?"

"Well, nobody knows the details. The relationships of the wealthy are complicated. Ordinary people like us can't understand them!"

"Shhh! Cora's here!"

The employees quickly returned to their duties, ceasing their gossip.

Meanwhile, Joanna was busy reviewing a contract in her office. Although she had signed a contract with the Stark Group, many small details still needed clarification. A knock came at the door.

"Please come in!" Joanna assumed it was Cora with coffee.

Bruce entered. Joanna didn't look up. "Leave it there!"

Cora usually brought her a cup of strong coffee every two hours. Joanna had just finished a cup, so she assumed it was Cora.

Bruce said nothing and quietly approached her desk. He placed a hand on it and looked at Joanna amorously.

Half a minute later, Joanna realized something was amiss. Looking up, she saw Bruce.

Joanna frowned. "Mr. Everett, why are you here again?" she said, her tone unfriendly. This man had bothered her for half a day yesterday. If Cora hadn't arrived, he would have forced himself on her!

Bruce smiled teasingly, raising an eyebrow and leaning closer. "Is there a problem? I told you I'd visit occasionally to check your work efficiency."

This angered Joanna. She was the chairwoman of the Haynes Group! What right did he have to assess her efficiency?

"You… you're really annoying!"

Bruce lifted her chin. "Babe, what are you busy with?"

Joanna nearly choked. She hadn't expected such a sleazy side to him.

"It's none of your business! Watch your words!"

"Hey, I'm also the company chairman! Don't I have the right to inquire about company matters?"

"Mr. Everett, you have a large business and numerous elite employees earning you money. You needn't busy yourself with this. But please don't disrupt other people's work! Now get out!"

Amusement flickered in Bruce's eyes. Why did she work so hard when she could simply be with him?

"Alright, alright! I won't disrupt you. Continue working." He sat on the sofa opposite her, watching her with an ambiguous smile.

Joanna, refocusing on her work, felt uncomfortable under his gaze. It was difficult to concentrate. "Mr. Everett, it's odd for you to stare at me like that."

"I have no choice. I don't have an office, so I must share yours. Now hurry up and get back to work. Don't disrupt my work!"

Joanna's eyes widened in disbelief.

"Mr. Everett, are you serious? I'm disrupting your work?"

Bruce shrugged innocently. "That's right! My job is to supervise you. You're disrupting my work if you're not working hard!"

Joanna glared. This man's craftiness was unmatched.

She called the secretary.

"Cora."

"Miss Haynes?"

"Clean out an office for Mr. Everett immediately! In the future, when he comes, he'll use his own office!"

"Yes, Miss Haynes!"

Still furious, Joanna turned off her computer. Bruce seemed amused by her anger. "Babe, what are we having for lunch?"

"Bruce, stop it! I'm working!"

"You need to eat to work."

"I'll have the company meal. Leave me alone!"

"Why don't we go out to eat?"

"I'm sorry, I'm not free!"

Bruce smiled. "Alright, alright. I'll have the company meal with you."

Soon, it was lunchtime. Employees had an hour and a half break. Joanna ignored Bruce and ate in the staff canteen.
