Gloria grinned at the photo. "Okay, my plan is working."

"Did the two get closer?" George asked.

Gloria replied smugly, "Of course. I didn't plan that trip to the hot spring resort just for them to sit in the hot spring."

Chuckling, George nodded. "The older, the wiser. You had all kinds of ideas when you were young, and now you're even better."

Gloria laughed, then her expression turned serious. "You know about my health and the Martin family's situation. If Joe doesn't have a sensible person by his side, he'll have to face those people alone after I'm gone. It'll be too much for him."

"Skye is a sweet girl. Viola was right," George said sternly.

Gloria and George had been through much in their lives, yet many things remained beyond their control, even at their age. They had done what they could; the youngsters would have to figure out the rest.

After taking the photo and sending it to Gloria, Skylar returned to her original spot. Joe put down his phone and saw Skylar avoiding him, treating him as a nuisance. She moved as far away from him as possible. His face darkened.

He felt irritated.

Skylar found a good angle, leaned back, and closed her eyes comfortably, enjoying the serenity and ignoring Joe. She assumed he wanted her to stay away.

The villas were separated by partitions built between the hot springs. In quiet moments, they could easily overhear conversations from neighboring villas.

Just then, they heard an amorous sound from the next villa. It wasn't clear, but its nature was unmistakable.

Skylar blushed slightly. If she were alone, she would have listened for fun. However, Joe's presence made the situation awkward.

When she opened her eyes, she saw Joe looking at her. Their eyes met. Skylar saw his grim, dark gaze; it looked terrifying. Other couples, she thought, probably wouldn't have been able to restrain themselves in this situation. Trapped as they were, Skylar couldn't help blushing.

They had been in the hot spring for over ten minutes. Feeling dizzy from the prolonged soak, she stood. "I I'm tired. I'll go back to rest."

Joe raised an eyebrow as Skylar hurried away. He felt a surge of desire, instantly furrowing his brows.

As Skylar reached the door, she heard a soft female voice: "Mr. Hughes, I love you so much"

The sound was intermittent, unclear, but she seemed to hear "Mr. Hughes." "Mr. Hughes," she mused.

She stopped, remembering Natalie's words from the bar that day. Women often have good instincts; they notice changes in their partners. As in her previous life, Skylar sensed a change in Christopher. Back at the Williams Residence, however, she'd been busy dealing with blood donations and Jeffrey and Sadie's bullying, so she hadn't investigated.

She had underestimated humanity and hadn't expected such despicable behavior. Still, everyone is different. She didn't want Natalie to be betrayed. Therefore, she wondered if the "Mr. Hughes" was the person Natalie had in mind, or a mere coincidence.

She frowned.
