Chapter 101
Skylar thought of Jeremy, whom she had met previously, and his fondness for Natalie. She dismissed it as a coincidence.
Joe's face fell when he saw Skylar stop abruptly. The persistent ringing in their ears was irritating. Seeing her rooted to the spot by the door, he realized she might be waiting for him.
He composed himself, considering her intentions. He picked up a nearby glass and took a few sips of water, coldly observing Skylar and her attractive figure. He wondered if she was trying to seduce him.
"What's wrong?" Joe asked indifferently. His cold voice was like a night breeze. Skylar only regained her senses when she felt the chill.
She turned to Joe. "I just thought of something nothing. Goodnight." She quickly grabbed a towel, wrapped herself, and hurried back to her room in the villa.
After showering and drying her hair, she prepared for bed. However, she felt thirsty as soon as she lay down. There was no water in her room, and she had perspired in the hot spring. She needed to rehydrate.
She opened her door and found the refrigerator. It contained beverages, water, and alcohol. Since she disliked beverages and smoothies, she took only a bottle of mineral water.
After taking a few sips, her thirst was quenched. Just as she turned, she bumped into something hard.
"Ahh!" She stumbled back in panic, but someone caught her at her waist. Under the dim light, Skylar saw a pair of dark eyes. "Mr. Martin!"
Surprised by his sudden appearance, she realized she had likely bumped into his chest.
"What are you doing here?" she asked.
Joe released his hold on her waist. Her baggy sleepwear hid her figure; if he hadn't seen her in a bikini, he wouldn't have noticed her attractive physique. She had a very slim waist.
"I'm here to get some water," Joe's voice was slightly hoarse.
Skylar nodded and stepped aside. "There's still water inside. Should I go to my room?"
Joe glanced at her. "Okay."
Skylar had barely taken a few steps when Joe called out, "Are you still thinking about your ex-boyfriend?"
Skylar frowned. Christopher had hurt her deeply, and she would never fall for someone so easily again.
Her voice was cold. "Mr. Martin, he's my ex-boyfriend, as you said." Christopher didn't deserve a place in her heart; he was as good as dead to her.
Joe raised an eyebrow. He mused that the depth of love often corresponded to the intensity of hatred after betrayal. He sensed Skylar's genuine hatred for Christopher, implying he still held a place in her heart. This realization prompted him to grab a cigarette.
