Chapter 1010
Skylar and Joe rested a day to adjust to the time difference after returning to Jipsburg. The next day, they went about their separate business. Skylar purchased souvenirs for her colleagues before meeting with Alexander.
Upon seeing Skylar, Alexander appeared apologetic. โIโm sorry to interrupt your honeymoon, but this is something only you can handle.โ
โWe were planning to return soon anyway, so itโs not a problem. Mr. Gardner Senior, please tell me whatโs wrong,โ Skylar replied.
Alexander nodded. โOnly you can address this. It concerns your Grandma Viola.โ
โGrandma Viola?โ Skylar echoed, concern growing.
โDidnโt she mention returning soon?โ Alexander asked.
Skylar nodded. โHas there been news about Grandma Viola?โ
โA few days ago, I received a letter at my home. I waited for your return to avoid alarming anyone,โ Alexander said gravely, retrieving an envelope from his desk. He removed a letter. โYou should read this.โ
Skylar carefully read the letter, written in Violaโs familiar hand. Her expression mirrored Alexanderโs seriousness. โWhy is Grandma Viola telling me to ignore these negative items now?โ she struggled to understand.
Alexander shook his head. โI donโt understand why sheโd give you such instructions. She even mentioned dealing with these negative items would lead you back into a nightmare.โ
โWhat nightmare?โ Alexander questioned. โSkye, look again. Could someone be mimicking Violaโs handwriting?โ He hadnโt had the handwriting analyzed, but after comparing the letters, he found no discrepancies.
Skylar frowned. โThis is Grandma Violaโs handwriting. However, someone could be imitating it. But to mimic her writing so wellโฆ theyโd have to know her handwriting extremely well. Her style has changed over the years; itโs different from thirty years ago. No one could perfectly replicate it now.โ
Her hand grew cold and clammy. She wondered if Viola was referring to her past life when she mentioned the nightmare, if it meant returning to her previous life, rendering this one an illusion. An unprecedented fear engulfed her. Alexander sighed, oblivious to the pallor that had overtaken Skylarโs face.
He reached back into the envelope and produced a second letter. โThis is a letter I received two days ago, also from your Grandma Viola. I hesitated to give it to you, but now that youโre sure itโs hers, I canโt keep it from you any longer.โ
Since receiving the letters, Alexander hadnโt slept properly, pondering Violaโs intentions. Skylar took the letter, her already pale face becoming ghostly white. The words on the letter drained the last vestiges of color from her face.
