At the thought of this, Alexander continued, “Skye mentioned her resignation, and I agreed. If she decides to return, I’ll personally invite her back. Regarding your grandmother, don’t tell her anything yet. The last thing she needs is to see trouble between you and Skye. I’ll tell her Skye’s been assigned an important task requiring her absence from Jipsburg for a while.”

Joe understood immediately. Skylar clearly had a secret, and Alexander wasn't revealing it. He didn't press further. He tapped his fingers lightly on the desk after setting down his phone. Suddenly remembering something, he called Paul. “Call me tomorrow morning at nine sharp.”

Paul was slightly confused. “Call you? Is there something you need me to remind you of at nine tomorrow, Mr. Martin?”

“Yes, just say it’s urgent,” Joe replied calmly.

“Huh? Alright,” Paul responded.

After leaving the restaurant, Skylar returned to Galaxy Villa. She had dinner and began packing. Since Pearlhall Residence residents frequently visited, she couldn't take everything, leaving some belongings behind to avoid suspicion regarding her relationship with Joe.

Around 10:00 p.m., as she finished packing, Natalie called.

“Skye, I’ll be back in Jipsburg next week. Mr. Powell’s filming wraps in a couple of days. We’ll return after the wrap party.” Natalie’s voice was excited.

Skylar smiled. “I’ll give you a proper welcome home.” The timing was perfect; she planned to see Natalie before leaving Jipsburg.

Over the next few days, Skylar would figure out how to tell Janine and the others. For now, she wanted to keep the divorce secret to avoid unnecessary worry. Alexander had secured her a job in Murida, a six-month assignment that offered a true escape from Jipsburg.

“Hey, why do you sound a little off? Did Joe give you a hard time after you got back?” Natalie’s sharp intuition detected something unusual.

Skylar smiled, concealing the truth. “Do I look easily bullied? I’ve had a bit of a cold since returning from Fachington. My throat’s still sore, and I’m taking medicine.”

“Oh, just a cold. There’s been a lot of that lately. Take care. See a doctor if it worsens,” Natalie said, relieved it wasn't Joe causing trouble.

Skylar reassured her. “It’s almost gone, don’t worry. I’ll be ready to welcome you back.”

“Great! See you then.”

After Natalie hung up, Skylar was about to put away her phone when Kate called.
