Chapter 1031
Upon reading Skylar's message, Alexander was taken aback. "How could you think that, Skye? This is no laughing matter."
"I've reviewed Grandma Viola's two recent letters multiple times. The handwriting is definitely hers, which is why we initially assumed these reflected her intentions. However, I've calmed down over the past couple of days and reflected on her usual style. These letters seem different. I'm about seventy percent sure Grandma Viola is being held against her will," Skylar replied solemnly.
"I'll have someone look into it immediately," Alexander said after a moment of silence.
Skylar added, "Please keep Grandma Viola's situation from Grandma Gloria. She's not well and can't handle more stress. As for Grandma Viola… I think it's best to act as if we're following the letters' instructions for now and temporarily leave Jipsburg in a few days."
She could spend time in the countryside. It would also be a good opportunity to sort through Viola's belongings there, and perhaps gain some insights.
Alexander agreed. "I was thinking the same thing."
After ending the call, Skylar contacted Aiken. Though not close, she knew of his abilities. She sent him details about Viola, including photos.
About ten minutes later, Aiken called back. "Don't worry. I've already started and will find her as soon as possible," he said gently.
Skylar's turbulent emotions settled. "Thank you. Please update me immediately. And how much do you need? I can transfer funds now."
Aiken paused, then chuckled. "You've helped me so much. It's only fair I help you. Isn't bringing up money a bit… formal? Don't worry. Finding people is what I do."
Skylar dropped the subject. Aiken had a way of putting people at ease.
"Have you and Simona returned to Jipsburg yet?" She realized she hadn't asked about their situation earlier, wondering if they'd returned from Fachington.
Aiken laughed. "We're on tomorrow's flight. Simona insisted on coming back; she doesn't want to fall behind in her studies. Let's have dinner together once we're back."
"Sure, let me treat you both. A nice welcome-back dinner," Skylar replied.
"Alright."
After Aiken hung up, his gaze remained fixed on his phone. Even when Simona stared at him for a long time, he didn't notice. Only her surprised shout broke his concentration.
"Ah!"

Aiken turned, surprised by her outburst. He initially thought she'd remembered something from her past. Just as he was about to ask, he noticed Simona staring with wide eyes, as if she'd discovered a secret.
"Aiken, why didn't I realize it before? You like Skylar, don't you? I overheard your conversation. We're returning to Jipsburg in a couple of days, and it'll be your birthday afterward. You invited her to dinner because you want her to spend it with you, right?"
Simona was convinced. Nobody knew Aiken better. To outsiders, he seemed to have many women, but she knew better. He never truly liked any of them—it was all for show. But it was different with Skylar.
"Don't be ridiculous. You can say that to me, but don't mention it to anyone else," Aiken frowned, denying it.
Simona raised an eyebrow. "Aiken, I'm not being ridiculous. After you hung up, you kept staring at your phone and smiling. And I've noticed you're always in a good mood around Skylar. Others might not see it, but I do. You like her."
Aiken's face grew stern.
"Why not admit it? So what if you like her? From what Caleb told me, Skylar and Joe may be married, but their relationship isn't great. Moreover, I've heard Joe's been involved with Vera for a while. Who knows, maybe they'll get divorced soon. If you can end up with Skylar, I'll be the first to support you."
