Simona immediately made her position clear. Ever since meeting Skylar, she had wanted her to be her sister-in-law. Initially, she hadn't noticed Aiken's feelings for Skylar, but now that she knew he liked her, she was simply waiting for Skylar's divorce. Once that happened, she would ensure Aiken married Skylar as quickly as possible. Joe treated Skylar poorly and was involved with other women; he didn't deserve her. But if Skylar married Aiken, that would be different. If he dared to mistreat her, Simona would be the first to oppose it. If he were to stray, she would handle any other women, ensuring they never approached Aiken again.

Aiken looked at Simona helplessly. "Things aren't as simple as you think. Skylar isn't the type of woman you imagine. She's married, so I can't pursue her. Even if she were single, it wouldn't be that easy." His tone held a hint of melancholy.

Simona considered this and nodded. "You're right, Aiken."

"Don't let her find out," Aiken said, his gaze intense. "Otherwise, she might never want to see me again."

Simona nodded slightly, thinking it was wasted enthusiasm. But then again, it wasn't. Once Skylar divorced, she would find ways to unite her with Aiken.

Skylar's resignation surprised Gloria. When Gloria called, her first question was, "Are you feeling too tired from work? Working with Alexander can be dull and exhausting. If you're tired, just take a break. He said he'd welcome you back when you're rested. So take it easy and have some fun."

"Yes, Grandma. I've been feeling a bit exhausted lately, so I'll take a break. Don't worry, I'll visit you at Pearlhall Residence this afternoon," Skylar reassured her, wanting to alleviate Gloria's concerns.

Alexander had told Skylar that, after reflection, he believed she was right. Someone didn't want her interfering in matters related to the negative items in Jipsburg City, using Viola to drive her away. The presence of such a powerful figure behind the scenes in Jipsburg made Alexander realize they needed to proceed cautiously and uncover this person. However, this matter shouldn't be shared with Gloria; they would handle it themselves.

"Just don't make a fuss. Take some time to rest at home. Joe is away on a business trip for a few days, so you should go out shopping with your friends. I have Edgar to look after me. If anything comes up, I'll have him contact you. You've been dealing with those negative items in Jipsburg lately; it must have taken a toll. Go out and have some fun," Gloria said quickly.

Skylar decided not to press further. "Alright, I'll visit you at Pearlhall Residence tomorrow."

"Sounds good."

After Gloria hung up, she couldn't help but feel worried. "Skylar suddenly quits her job, and Joe is away on a business trip. Something must be going on with those two. Just a couple of days ago, before Skylar quit, didn't they say they weren't going back to the Galaxy Villa? That rascal, he wouldn't really be thinking about Vera, would he?"

Edgar looked at Gloria with a hint of helplessness. "Mrs. Martin Senior, there's no need to worry. It's normal for young people to have disagreements. They might argue now, but they'll be fine in a couple of days. They'll be back to being lovey-dovey. They've even taken their wedding photos. My son and daughter-in-law argue almost daily, and it hasn't stopped them from having children."

"You make a point. Let them sort out their own issues. I just feel bad for Skylar. Joe really doesn't know how to cherish her," Gloria expressed her dissatisfaction.

Edgar chuckled softly. "Mr. Martin may not be romantic, but he treats Mrs. Martin very well. As for the rumors about him and Ms. Ruell, those are likely tabloid nonsense."

Gloria nodded wearily. "I realized avoiding the hospital won't help. I can't let them worry. Please contact the hospital. I'll check in today."

Edgar replied, "And as for Mrs. Martin tomorrow…"
