Chapter 105

Natalie emerged from the dressing room in a custom-made gown. Her fair skin and bright smile were captivating. She looked youthful, a fairy in the perfectly tailored white dress.

"What do you think?" Natalie asked. She'd always been envious of Skylar's curvy figure. The gown she'd chosen felt less feminine. However, she knew Jeremy preferred her personality over a specific body type; otherwise, she'd be more concerned about her appearance.

Skylar was surprised. "It's beautiful, and it suits you perfectly."

"Perfect," Natalie said, twirling before the mirror. Although she wasn't considered conventionally attractive, she could carry off most outfits. With the right style, she could be stunning. She secretly praised herself. Then, she noticed something behind Skylar.

Skylar turned to see Joe being interviewed on a sixty-inch LED screen by a female host.

"Thank you for this interview, Mr. Martin," the host said. "But I have one more question. Are you single?"

Joe paused briefly before nodding. While he didn't explicitly answer, his nonverbal response indicated he was single.

Skylar raised an eyebrow.

The host seemed pleased. "Mr. Martin, you're still single despite being such an outstanding person. Could you tell us what you look for in a partner?"

"Someone I like," Joe replied simply.

"Oh my goodness!" Natalie exclaimed, pointing outside. "We keep running into Joe! Skylar, look! Isn't that Joe Martin? I think he's with the female host who interviewed him."

Skylar looked and saw them chatting happily outside a restaurant, heading towards the entrance. She even saw Joe, usually so stoic, smile faintly. His admiration for the host was evident.

"I know who that is! That's Annie Silver. She was a well-known figure in my husband's college—a real campus belle. She definitely knows Joe Martin."

"Maybe they used the interview as an excuse to flirt," Natalie mused excitedly. "They've probably been secretly contacting each other for a while." She felt like a detective uncovering juicy gossip.

Skylar realized Natalie had, once again, uncovered the truth. Learning about Joe's interest in someone else was unsettling. She needed to talk to Gloria and tell her brother about her impending quick divorce.

To confirm her suspicions, Natalie called Jeremy, but his secretary answered.

"Mr. Hughes is in a meeting," the secretary said. "He can't take the call."

Natalie froze at the woman's soft, captivating voice. She wondered if Jeremy had a new secretary. "I'm Mr. Hughes' wife. Please tell him to call me back when he's finished."
