Chapter 1079
With a golf course this large, finding Joe would be difficult. Vera's friends sent her a photo with a location pin. She went to the designated spot, but after searching for ten minutes, she saw Joe drive away. She waved, but he either ignored her or didn't see her.
Her face darkened. "Joe, are you seriously trying to avoid me? Is it necessary for us to be like this? If it weren't for me, you'd still be stuck with Skylar. You're going to regret this."
Around 5:00 pm, Natalie parted ways with Skylar after shopping. She headed to Austin's house, while Skylar drove home. Joe called Skylar: "Let's have dinner. I'll send you the address."
Skylar drove to the address, a high-end complex with excellent security. She accessed the underground parking garage without trouble and took the elevator to Joe's floor. Joe opened the door before she could ring the bell. "Come in."
Skylar looked around before entering. "This entire floor is mine," Joe said. "Martin Group built this complex. I'll be living here from now on, so no one can follow you. You can come over every night."
Skylar slipped on the provided slippers. "Coming here every day might get noticed," she replied, concerned about the risk.
Joe shrugged. "That won't happen. They're not brave enough to tail me. I have people surrounding me. You'll be protected, too, so don't worry."
Skylar chuckled softly. "Alright. But I'll go to Beckton with Natalie for a photo shoot in a few days."
Joe frowned, suspecting evasion. "How long?"
"Two days. Her break isn't long."
"Fine. I'll keep you updated on Molly during those two days," Joe said.
Skylar nodded and joined Joe at the floor-to-ceiling windows, admiring the stunning view. As dusk settled, she remembered something. "I ran into Vera while shopping with Natalie today."
Joe's expression remained neutral. "What did she say?"
"You can guess, but the important thing is she had a strong sense of impending darkness. If I'm right, she must have acquired another negative item since losing the ring," Skylar said, gazing at the twilight.
Joe nodded. "Molly did give her something."
Skylar didn't elaborate. Molly's actions were clearly under Joe's scrutiny. "I'll avoid Vera. She's targeting me," Joe added.
Skylar felt relieved. She glanced at the time and the kitchen. "Anything in the fridge?"
"There is, but you don't need to cook. Paul will bring dinner in about ten minutes," Joe replied.
