Chapter 1090

As soon as Jenny finished speaking, she leaned precariously toward the rooftop's edge, as if about to fall.

Seeing this, Skylar warned, "The wind is too strong. You're putting yourself in danger." Jenny's actions betrayed her understanding that this dramatic display was futile. Crying, creating a scene, and threatening suicide only worked on someone who still cared. For someone indifferent, it was useless. Skylar believed Jenny, clever as she was, recognized this.

Jenny observed Joe and Rowan's lack of reaction to her threat; their coldness was stark. She knew her threats wouldn't sway Rowan. Desperate and dejected, she stared intently at him.

"Do you really not care? Are you really going to just stand there and watch me die?" she asked.

Rowan remained silent, his attitude unmistakable. Joe looked down and said to Skylar, "Let's go." Skylar nodded, glancing at Jenny. Staying was pointless. Jenny had likely called them to gauge Skylar's heartbreak or Joe's pity, and to ascertain Rowan's lingering feelings. If he still cared, he wouldn't stand idly by.

As they left, Jenny noticed them, but Joe's cold gaze dissuaded her from calling them back. She pretended not to see them go. Turning back to Rowan, tears streamed down her face. "Rowan, didn't you say you loved me? Why can't I see that? I've humbled myself, begged you, and now I can't even live without you. Why won't you forgive me? I was wrong. If I'd been honest and asked for your help, we wouldn't be here. I was wrong, Rowan. Please forgive me. I can't lose you."

Rowan replied coldly, "This is tiresome. I know you won't jump. My conditions still stand. Text me after you decide. By the way, there are cameras here. Everything said has been recorded. Continuing this is pointless."

Jenny's face paled. Then, she burst into laughter. "I've lost everything! Rowan, you know how to toy with people. Your family knew everything about me and waited until the perfect momentโ€”right before our weddingโ€”to reveal it. That's so cruel! And Edwin Martinโ€”I addressed him as Mr. Edwin, hoping for help, but he drugged and assaulted me repeatedly. I thought I was smart, but I lost everything!"

Her only remaining leverage was the threat of suicide. Rowan's expression grew complex; he had loved her for years, and letting go wasn't easy.

"Leave Jipsburg, start afresh, and stop scheming. You've gotten more than enough."

Jenny, seemingly ignoring him, muttered, "Leave Jipsburg? Leave Jipsburg! I don't want to leave. Everything I've ever dreamed of is here. Where can I go? You don't want me anymoreโ€”what am I supposed to do?"
