Chapter 1089

This was the real Jenny. She would stop at nothing to achieve her goal. With bloodshot eyes, she pointed to the ground below, staring intently at Rowan. This was a gamble. She was sure Rowan couldn't bear to watch her die; a lingering trace of her in his heart would prevent him from letting her end her life. She simply couldn't lose Rowan.

Skylar glanced at Joe. Noticing her gaze, he looked back, and a shared understanding passed between themโ€”Jenny wasn't truly going to jump.

Rowan, startled, quickly moved to stop her. "Why are you so foolish, Jenny? Breaking up with me isn't a loss for you. I'll give you a breakup fee; you can live comfortably anywhere after leaving Jipsburg."

"Breakup fee? I don't want it! I'm not short of money! Rowan, I just want to be with you. We agreed to marryโ€”you promised! Why can't we do that because of this? As long as you stay with me, Mr. Edwin won't pressure me anymore, and I won't be scared!" Hope shone in Jenny's eyes as she looked at him.

This was a staged scene, meant to force Rowan's hand. She needed his agreement. Seeing the calculation in her eyes, Rowan felt utterly disappointed.

"Spill everything," he said, his patience exhausted. He'd still harbored a faint hope in the elevator that Jenny might show remorse, a hope that might have secured her a comfortable future. Now, it was clear he'd hoped for too much.

Jenny shook her head, her gaze fixed on Rowan, her posture softening, becoming fragile. "What I want is simple: I want us to get married!"

Anticipation shone in her eyes, though she knew his agreement wouldn't be easy. The wind howled fiercely on the rooftop, dozens of floors above the ground; the thought of the guilt they'd carry if she jumped weighed heavily.

Turning to Skylar, Jenny said, "I'm not like you. At least I dare to say what I want. You divorced Joe, yet you pretend to be calm. You're suffering inside, aren't you?"

Skylar didn't deny it. "You're right. We're not the same." She preferred letting go of unattainable people; a forced relationship would never last. Jenny sneered, then turned back to Rowan. "Have you decided? If you agree, I'll come down. If not, I'll jump."

"Marry you? Impossible. You have two choices: come down, and I'll give you ten million as a breakup fee, and we part ways. Or, you jump, and I'll have someone collect your body," Rowan said coldly, his face impassive.

Jenny's eyes widened. "Are you forcing me to jump? Do you think I wouldn't dare?"
