Chapter 1113

Carl nodded. "Yeah, Herman showed me the pendant when he brought it back from abroad."

Winona recalled, "He did bring it back from overseas. I thought he'd put it away, but I didn't expect him to keep it on him."

Lizzie immediately went to Herman, who lay unconscious on the bed, his face pale and sickly. She opened his collar, revealing a crescent-shaped white emerald pendant.

"Skylar, come look," Lizzie called.

Skylar approached. Her brow furrowed, her voice sharp. "Don't touch it."

Lizzie's hand froze mid-air, just as she was about to remove it. Her eyes widened. "Could this be why my brother is like this?"

Carl and Winona exclaimed in unison, astonished. "What?"

"He said he liked it and paid tens of thousands of dollars for it," Carl responded. "If something worth that much can do this to him, it must be cursed."

Skylar nodded. "As expected. Please get me scissors and red thread."

"Okay," Winona said, hurrying to find the scissors and summoning a maid for the thread.

Skylar examined Herman. Though unconscious, he was tense, his hands clenched, as if resisting something terrifying. The pendant brought chilling visions to her mind: a mountain of young girls, sacrificed in a ritual, their blood drained by a man who wore this very pendant. Twenty girls had died in three days. The man, the orchestrator of this horror, had met a horrific end, tormented nightly by the vengeful spirits.

Skylar closed her eyes, then reopened them, her gaze fixed on the pendant. Beautiful and exquisitely crafted, it held a subtle, almost invisible seal at the crescent's curve โ€“ a deathly sigil, not a flower as others might see it. No wonder Herman had changed over the past year, continuously seeking death.

"Do you think my brother will be okay?" Lizzie asked.
