Chapter 1114

Skylar shook her head. "I can't be certain yet. It depends on Herman's willpower," she said. Those with weak willpower could suffer significant damage after such prolonged torment.

Lizzie nodded, worry etched on her face. The Garza family couldn't afford to lose Herman. Carl, despite facing life's challenges, couldn't conceal his concern and exhaustion. The aging of her parents over the past year pained Lizzie deeply. Herman lay unconscious, his face still bearing the marks of torment, even in oblivion.

Paul, observing Herman's condition, felt a pang of sorrow. Reconciling the Herman he knew with the man before him proved difficult.

Soon, Winona and a maid arrived with scissors, their handles wrapped in red thread, as Skylar had instructed.

"Is this alright?" Winona asked.

Skylar nodded. "Yes, this will work." She produced a talisman drawn during her break, placing it beneath the pendant before cutting the black string. The pendant fell onto the talisman. Skylar wrapped it carefully, avoiding contact. Even through the talisman, a chill emanated from the pendant. Without its protection, the chilling aura would have harmed her.

The others remained silent, too afraid to interrupt.

"Alright, I'll destroy this negative item. No one will be harmed by it again," Skylar assured them, placing the crescent-shaped pendant in her bag.

Lizzie sighed in relief. "Soโ€ฆ my brother?"

"I can't confirm his condition. We'll wait until he wakes. I'm going to rest; please call me as soon as he's awake," Skylar said. A wave of dizziness overcame her. The heavy negative energy from the item had inevitably affected her.

Noticing Skylar's sudden pallor, Paul approached quickly. "Are you feeling unwell? Should we take you to the hospital?" He remembered Joe's warning about the dangers Skylar faced handling negative items. A previous incident, where a negative item had left her in a coma for days, despite expert examinations, terrified him.

Lizzie and the others noticed her distress. Winona said urgently, "The family doctor lives nearby. I'll call her."

Lizzie supported Skylar. "Is this because you helped my brother? Did it hurt you?" Skylar's pallor and drained appearance revealed the severity of the situation. Paul's worried expression confirmed her assessment.

Skylar reassured them. "Don't worry. I'll be fine. I just need to rest quietly for an hour."

Though relieved, Lizzie and Paul remained anxious. As Skylar returned to her room, Lizzie urged Winona to contact the doctor immediately.

Skylar lay down, feeling only slight discomfort. An hour's rest seemed sufficient. However, she hadn't anticipated the dreams that would haunt her sleep.
