Chapter 1115

Skylar's dreams were filled with scenes of the girl's brutal abuse and eventual death. One particularly vivid image showed her legs crushed beneath a large truck. The horror was relentless, bloody, and terrifying, leaving her in shock.

As she struggled to open her eyes and control her emotions, a familiar, gentle figure appeared: Grandma Viola.

"Grandma Violaโ€ฆ" she called, running toward her. Yet, despite Viola's proximity, an insurmountable distance separated them. No matter how hard she tried, she couldn't reach her.

Viola looked at her with warmth and kindness. "Don't come closer, Skye. I have something to tell you; just listen."

Skylar stared blankly. Though it had been so long since their last meeting, Viola seemed to be visibly rejuvenating as she spoke, gradually transforming into a breathtaking beauty.

"In this world, my greatest concern is you. Your relationship with Joe isn't destined; it defies fate. You'll face many trials. Only by remaining steadfast in your bond will it endure. Remember my words. Hold onto this connection, no matter what. Understood?"

Skylar nodded repeatedly. "I'll listen, Grandma Viola. Butโ€ฆ did helping me necessitate your sudden departure?" She sensed an underlying reason for Viola's passing.

Viola smiled gently and shook her head. "I've seen many things in this world. Whether I live for many years or few matters little. Live well, Skye. I have things to do now."

"Grandmaโ€ฆ" Skylar tried to catch up, but Viola's figure began to fade. As the white mist dissipated, only an endless night remained.

Skylar jolted awake, the ceiling light snapping her back to reality. It was just a dream, yet not entirely. Viola's appearance held deeper meaning than a mere figment of her imagination; it confirmed her suspicions. This chance at rebirth was because of Viola, who had sacrificed years of her life for Skylar.

Thinking of Viola's life spent protecting others, only to spend her final years in solitude, a sharp ache pierced Skylar's heart.

A series of knocks sounded at the door.

"Mrs. Martin?"

"Skylar?"

"She's been asleep for two hours. I'm worried."

"Let the doctor check on her. That's the only way I'll feel reassured."

Just as Skylar was about to respond, her phone rang, pulling her from her sorrow.

"Hello?"

"Are you alright?" Joe's voice held urgency.

"I'm fine. I just napped. Don't worry."

"If Lizzie's brother's situation is too dangerous, don't risk yourself helping them. Just come back to Jipsburg." Joe's words revealed his sole concern was her safety.

Skylar smiled. "You're really that worried, huh? Don't worry, I'll be careful."
