Chapter 1122
In the hotel room, Annie quietly watched Steven, fast asleep. A pang of disorientation struck her. However, she knew she couldn't stay. Reluctance tugged at her, but she had to leave; she couldn't repeat past mistakes. She glanced at her neatly placed phone, still preoccupied with the identity behind "Stupid Girl." This situation wouldn't have happened if not for her past errors.
Taking a deep breath, she surveyed the warmly lit room. It should have been a beautiful night, but this wasn't the time to linger. With a hint of reluctance, she opened the door and left.
After entering her car, Annie didn't drive away immediately. She waited, confirming something important. Soon, another car pulled up, one vehicle away. Skylar and Joe emerged and hurried into the hotel.
Their near-simultaneous arrival confirmed Annie's suspicions, though it still surprised her. Jipsburg City buzzed with Lizzie's quiet conquest of Joe, but Annie sensed Skylar's significance to him. If they were truly estranged, would Joe really arrive with Skylar? Gripping the steering wheel, she realized her intuition was correct.
There would be time ahead; she couldn't afford past mistakes. She needed to move forward, picking herself up wherever she'd stumbled. She'd fallen from TV host to influencerโtomorrow held unpredictable possibilities.
After Skylar and Joe entered the hotel room, they found Steven sound asleep. Despite their somewhat loud entrance, they hadn't woken him. Seeing Steven safe and untouched by Annie, Skylar breathed a sigh of relief.
"I'll get us a room. Tonight, I'll share a room with Steven," Joe said, noting Steven's sleep. He guessed Steven wouldn't wake. Staying at the hotel was best.
Skylar agreed. "Okay."
Conveniently, an adjacent room was available, and Joe booked it.
The next morning, Steven awoke with a pounding headache. He was in an unfamiliar hotel room, the layout and decor completely strange. He had no memory of how he got there.
His mind went blank, struggling to piece together the night's events. Just then, he saw Joe lying on the other bed.
"Joe?"
Steven's confusion deepened; his headache obscured the previous night's events. It felt as if his memories had been stolen.
