Chapter 1138
Rowan's behavior suggested he couldn't let go of Minerva or felt guilty towards her.
โMinerva has her own aspirations,โ Skylar said.
Rowanโs voice softened, as if he were crying or deeply upset. โI was a jerk. I chased after my so-called crush and hurt Minerva. She has no reason to forgive me, and she doesn't have to.โ
Skylar didnโt know how to comfort him. It was his fault. He hadnโt cherished Minerva when he had the chance, only to regret it after deeply hurting her and then expecting forgiveness. How was that possible? Some people might forgive such hurt, but Minerva clearly wasn't one of them. Skylar wouldn't forgive him either. He deserved it.
Realizing Skylar wasnโt responding, Rowan realized he'd lost his composure. However, he had no one else to turn to, knowing Skylar was close to Minerva.
Then, Rowan added awkwardly, โI can wait for her, no matter how long. If necessary, Iโll study abroad, too.โ
Skylar, exasperated, didnโt know what to say. โIโve got things to do. Think it through, and donโt hurt Minerva again.โ Despite everything, she felt compelled to offer this advice.
Rowan replied, โI wouldnโt dare hurt her again. I just want her to forgive me. And don't plan on marrying anyone else! Iโll wait for her!โ
Skylarโs lips twitched in disbelief. She was relieved he was talking to her and not Minerva. If Minerva heard his words, she might roll her eyes.
After hanging up, Skylar called Vera. She answered immediately.
โWell? Can you help me? Name your price.โ
Skylar replied, โOne million. The statue is cursed, but not dangerously so. It wonโt kill you, but it wonโt grant wishes either. At most, youโll experience some bad luck.โ
โReally? Youโre not lying?โ Vera sounded doubtful.
Skylar replied, โFind someone else if you donโt believe me. Iโve got other things to do.โ
In truth, Skylar disliked Vera and preferred to avoid her. If not for the cursed statue, she wouldnโt care about Veraโs situation.
โWait! I trust you. Youโre the only one I can rely on. I donโt want to keep this cursed thing another day. Can you help me today? Iโll transfer the money now,โ Vera said urgently.
She hadnโt expected Molly to be right. While the statue wasnโt harmful, knowing it was cursed made her uneasy. Furthermore, Skylarโs price was surprisingly reasonable. Getting rid of such a burden for that price seemed a good deal.
โBring the statue to the library on Cedar Road. Weโll meet in an hour,โ Skylar said, setting the meeting point.
Vera initially wanted Skylar to come to her house; she didnโt want to leave. After witnessing Mollyโs car accident, she was shaken and fearful. But Skylar was firm, so Vera had no choice but to go out. Fortunately, the library wasnโt far.
An hour later, Skylar arrived at the library and went inside. Vera arrived a few minutes later.
